Re: The Saints are the HOME team in the UK game
It is just 1 more way for the NFL to screw us. Of course we will lose a home game for this nonsense. Screw Europe.

Re: The Saints are the HOME team in the UK game
Actually, we've lost QUITE A FEW home games in the last few years. QUITE A FEW. Did you forget about Katrina?
It seems to me the NFL could pick a team that hasn't already lost so many home games. And it's ironic that they're considering us, because we're the ONLY team in the league that has given up so many home games. Ironic, wouldn't you say? |
Re: The Saints are the HOME team in the UK game
It would be a major mistake to take away any of the Saints 8 home games.
The team has already been forced to play too many home agames out side of the SuperDome... in the past 3 years. As a fan I would be livid |
Re: The Saints are the HOME team in the UK game
Congratulations Euro dudes, you got us:
SAINTS TO PLAY CHARGERS IN LONDON When Drew Brees left the Chargers and signed with the Saints, he likely never dreamed that his opportunity to prove the folks in San Diego that they kept the wrong guy would occur on the other side of an ocean. Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports that the New Orleans Saints will "host" the San Diego Chargers on October 26 in London. The game will be played at Wembley Stadium, the same venue where the Dolphins hosted the Giants in October 2007. There was some thought that the game wouldn't be played at Wembley again, because the slick soccer pitch coupled with a cold rain made the thing a sloppy mess last time around. This time, the league wanted to provide England with a potentially high-scoring game, and the Chargers and Saints have two of the league's marquee offenses. |

I wouldn't mind if it was an away game over there. But a home game?.... C'mon NFL. That's not right.

Saints will reportedly play 'home' game in London
Saints will reportedly play 'home' game in London- NOLA.com
Meanwhile, Saints Coach Sean Payton might lose some assistant coaches to his mentor Bill Parcells and the Miami Dolphins. According to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, the Dolphins have hired Saints special teams coordinator John Bonamego to coach their special teams, and they have offered their offensive coordinator position to Saints quarterbacks coach Pete Carmichael. The newspaper cited an unnamed NFL source. The Saints did not confirm either report. Bonamego, 44, has coached special teams in the NFL for nine years in New Orleans, Green Bay and Jacksonville. While with the Jaguars, he worked alongside Miami Coach Tony Sparano, who recently was hired by Parcells, the Dolphins' vice president of football operations. Carmichael, 36, also worked with Sparano in Cleveland and Washington when he began his NFL coaching career in 2000 and 2001. Since then, Carmichael has spent six years working with quarterback Drew Brees -- first in San Diego from 2002 to '05, then in New Orleans. |
Re: The Saints are the HOME team in the UK game
im a season ticket holder, so i hope they reduce the cost by that amount(one game), but fat chance I guess.
