Corners finally exposed
For the first time this year the d-line didnt get enough pressure on the qb to save the secondary. Luckily Jim Miller made a mistake at the end. The corners had played well because of the pressure put on the qb's. Today they looked outmatched for most of the game. Hawthorne got burnt time and time again, but stepped up and made two huge plays stopping the third down short of the marker and the tackle in bounds on the tight end. Fred Thomas didnt get thrown at much that I saw but made the huge hit on Miller. To bad Booker was wide open for the TD. All in all the secondary played what I think was the worst they have looked this season.

I was so frsutrated with Hawthorne. I hope we can write it off as a bad game. He did take the hit of the game, unfortunately it was by Sammy Knight. I kept wondering why we weren\'t bringing our normal inside pressure? And when your corners are already getting burned, don\'t blitz them or the safeties. Booker had to be a happy guy.
Miller was left standing, but with our record against Chandler, it was a good thing. |

Our corners didn\'t play that well, but we know that\'s our weakness. The problem is other teams (if they didn\'t know it already) will know that now too. Getting Craver back will help, and getting some word (any word) on Dale Carter would be nice. I would like to say, however, that Hawthorne made a BIG dare I say HUGE tackle in the 4th quarter to give the offense the ball which allowed us to score the winning TD. He\'s had better games in coverage, but ya\'ll have to admit that tackle was the key!

I agree saintfan the tackle was huge. I have seen games where Hawthorne has looked pretty good as a cover corner and games where he looked like he did Sunday. Hopefully you can mark it up to youth and growing pains.

I can\'t wait to get Carter and Craver back myself. Hawthorne has the size, etc, to et the job done but..he just isn\'t consistent for some reason. Go figure. Nickle back yeah. Starter in the NFL no.

Even with his reinstatment I am not holding my breath on Carter coming back, much less contributing. I dont think he will contribute for a couple of weeks even if they reinstate him. With so many offenses against him I just dont see how they let him come back in 6 weeks. I hope I am wrong about him. I know he got busted for something very minor, but so many things have happened to him before.

Last time Dale came off a suspension, he made an immediate impact

Yes he did. I see a pattern though. Carter gets suspended gets off suspention and makes and impact. Carter gets suspended gets off suspention and makes an impact. He only makes an impact if he playes 16 games in my opinion
