Saints Team Report
SportingNews.com - Your expert source for NFL Football stats, scores, standings, blogs and fantasy news from NFL Football columnists
The Saints need to improve the personnel, scheme and perhaps attitude on defense. The unit never scare opponents in 2007, never seemed to rattle or confuse quarterbacks. The Saints didn't blitz often, even though they didn't get consistent pressure from their front four. Even the league's shakiest quarterbacks picked apart the secondary; opposing passers had a 96.9 rating against the Saints. The team can't let that happen again. They need to find something that works better, whether it's more pressure packages, more use of zone defenses, or something more radical. They also need to add at least two dynamic playmakers - a defensive back and a pass rusher. |
