Saints' London trip could hurt city
SunHerald.com : Saints' London trip could hurt city
"When you look at a 68,000-seat arena that's going to be dormant on that day," he adds, "it leaves a bit of a sour taste." Goodell gives this explanation: The Saints and the city wanted the game in London because it's a chance to reach Europeans - especially the British - who once accounted for a major chunk of the tourism business. |

Re: Saints' London trip could hurt city
You have got to be kidding me, and anyone know what happen to those plans of getting a NFL team in LA by 2010? I think things on that front have gotten a little too quite, and even all the noise the Chargers were making about leaving has died down?
As for the city wanting the game in a different country, did anyone get a notice on this....I didnt? I'm not mad or upset, but just call it what it what it is.....you wanted to give the people of London a chance to see a high scoring game.....Goodell couldnt possibly send that Number One Ranked Offense from this past year over seas to take on say the Chargers or the Cowboys for that matter....no you want to send the Saints vs the Chargers which could prove to be a very intresting game but it really wont be fair to have Drew Brees taking on his old team without 67000 screaming cajun fans screaming for him! |
You say that were nuts for pulling for them, you call them sorry, you wonder why we deal with them year after year. Well New Orleans is like no other city in the world, and no fans are anything like saint fans.

Re: Saints' London trip could hurt city
Whether it's the Hall of Fame game (last season) or playing overseas, I think they are ALL unnecessary distractions for a football team and a city who are trying to rebuild. Unless the Red Cross is taking donations at Wembly Stadium, I don't see how this helps New Orleans (i thought the world hated us anyway??)
If teams are "selected" for the honor to play overseas, then the NFL needs to let other US cities host the annual draft. |
