A position-by-position outlook for New Orleans

The News Star - www.thenewsstar.com - Monroe, LA

Offensive line

Jammal Brown, Jamar Nesbit, Jeff Faine, Jahri Evans, Jonathan Stinchcomb, Zach Strief, Jonathan Goodwin, Andy Alleman

What we think: As pass blockers, the Saints' offensive line has no peer in the NFL. But as run blockers, they struggled mightily in 2007. A lot of that had to do with the carousel of tailbacks, but some of it had to do with the Saints not having any good run blockers.

With both Faine and Nesbit available to shop themselves around in the free-agent market, look for at least one of those players to cash in on their recent success. Don't be surprised if both players end up leaving, as Brees feels really comfortable with Goodwin at center.

Andy Alleman, the Saints' third-round pick in the 2007 NFL draft, would likely replace Nesbit at the left guard position.

Re: A position-by-position outlook for New Orleans

while i like fanaca.. i just dont think we should be spending the kind of money that he is going to want on a guard.. even if he is a perennial all pro... im not sayin that alleman should start but there are cheaper guards available.. one from Indy.. cant remember his name at the moment who would do very nicely and would save us a ton of cash that we can use to maybe sign one of the top corners samuel or trufant if either come available..
