Moose is 35...is that not registering with you. I will be if you ask any Bears fan they will tell you he is washed up. just like last year, any real Saints fan would have told the people in atlanta that Horn was washed up. Moose played every game last year and only caught 40 passes. Do you think he would come in here and top that? of course he wouldnt. Do you think he would be anything better than our 4th option here? of course he wouldnt. Do you think that he thinks New Orleans is the ideal place for him? of course not. He is not someone that do anything good for this team.

yeah lets bring in a 35 year old receiver...thats just what we need.

He's still 34, he's got a couple months...

Here's a group of 34-35 year old WRs that you wouldn't want to have on your team because they are 34-35.

As for Horn, he's been on the decline due to injuries since 2005, playing for a pass-happy offense, and we witnessed that decline.

Muhammad, on the other hand, for the past 3 years, has caught balls thrown by Rex Grossman, Kyle Orton, and Bob Griese. Are you trying to tell me that has nothing to do with his numbers? Come on!!

What's up with you today?

There are always exceptions to every rule. Harrison and Owens are just freaks who know how to take care of their body. Driver and Engram were better athletes than Moose to begin with. That may be my major point, he wasnt a super talented guy to begin with. And now, the few physical traits he had are diminishing even more. I am sure you can say the QB play didnt help him any, just like fans of Grossman will tell you that his WR's made him look worse. Grossman threw for a bunch of yards and TD's during their super bowl run, and not much of that was because of Muhammed.

I see where you are coming from, but at the same time, i stand firm in saying that the Saints shouldnt even care that he is a free agent. He in no way would help this team. He brings nothing to the table that would justify us signing him. If the Saints are dead set in bringing in another WR, i say they go after Ernest Wilford. A big guy, good hands, not a lot of breakaway speed, and he still has something to prove. He is what Moose was 8 years ago.

Ernest Wilford ? really? So I am guessing the QB's killed him. Hmmm have to ponder that one

We could look at Moose. We could all wear blue wigs and call ourselves Sally.

...or we could just go after DEFENSIVE free agents instead of building up a position that we don't really need much help at. Why do we still have these conversations?

Re: Bears release WR Muhammed

yes, defense is the major concern...but how can you say we dont have a need at WR...we only have 3 of them on the roster...and i am not counting Skyler Green because he is a fringe NFL player. We have Colston, Moore, and meachem...thats it...how can you say we dont have a need at WR?

Re: Bears release WR Muhammed

Colston, Meachem and Moore should be a pretty solid trio if Moore keeps developing and Meachem gets rolling. Plus you have to think they'll bring back either Patten or Copper, and Reggie fills the role of everyman when it comes to catching passes and playing decoy. Then there's the simple fact that Brees is going to get the ball to any guy wearing the same color jersey, so I'm not terribly concerned about wideout. Tight end, that's another story.

Re: Bears release WR Muhammed

Lance Moore is a 5th receiver...not a 2nd or 3rd....same with Copper. As much as i like Meachem, he hasnt played yet. I think WR is a need more than anything other than CB, LB, and DT. I dont think its a position where the saints should spend a ton of money, they shouldnt trade for one, and they shouldnt take one in the first two rounds, but it is something that needs to be addressed. I like Wilford, i think he would be a great fit. I like the idea of drafting Jordy Nelson in the third round.

The WR position this offseason is not an end of the world thing, but its certainly not an afterthought either.

Re: Bears release WR Muhammed

Meachem will more than likely be able to play as the number 2 or 3 is what I'm basing most of my thinking on, with Patten going to whatever spot Meachem doesn't. I have no problem bringing in a guy like Wilford, but I think receiver is far down on the list of needs when we need help at just about every spot on defense.

Between Boba and Narwhal, I like they way both of you think. Ya'll make good points and observations. I'd like to kick back at a sportsbar with both of you and talk Saints football.
