Marcus Trufant Tagged
POSTED 5:50 p.m. EST, February 20, 2008 TRUFANT GETS FRANCHISED With the deadline for applying the franchise tag less than 24 hours away, more and more teams are using it. Adam Schefter of NFL Network reports that the Seahawks have applied the franchise tag to cornerback Marcus Trufant. The placement of the tag on Trufant and Raiders cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha means that Pats cornerback Asante Samuel will be the biggest prize at the cornerback position when free agency opens on February 29. (I know it PFT but they have gotten much better) Now its either Samuel for $100 million + or a trade for the likes of a Lito Sheppard, a 2nd tier CB or draft for the future? |

That definitely sucks. I have a feeling the Pats are going to re-sign Samuels or he'll stay somewhere in the AFC. We need to get Florence to come for a visit and start working those phones for a potential trading partner.

Trufant was probably the best CB available. I don't think he got an exclusive put on him, is he worth the next two 1st round picks and about 30 million in guaranteed money? Well, maybe it's at least worth thinking about.

This could be a very expensive move for Seattle. Samuuls is going to send the average sky high. Still, I am disappointed we don't get a shot at him.
