just heard on NFL Network that the Saints have offered Thomas a contract and that we are now the front runners to sign him!

SAINTS MAKE OFFER TO THOMAS

It's two visits, two offers for former linebacker Zach Thomas.

According to Adam Schefter of NFL Network, the New Orleans Saints have made Thomas an offer to join the team. Earlier this week, the Patriots offered Thomas a contract.

Schefter reports that there's a feeling that the Saints are the favorites to land Thomas, who was cut by Miami last week.

Other teams interested in Thomas include the Cowboys, Broncos, Texans, Jets, and Bills.

I sure hope the Saints sign him, he would be a plus at our LB corps...

I am fine with it as long as the front office isnt dumb enough to count on him to fill that hole for 16 games. Signing him and still drafting a MLB on the first day is perfectly fine with me.

I am hoping for this big time. It's going to be a tough decision for him, I really think it's going to be between the Saints and Cowboys. I don't think just because New England offered him a deal that it's a given like it would have been in the past.

he is an upgrade for sure, If you draft a MLB I can not think of many other players I would rather mentor than him.

I'm not really sure about this. Head injuries are pretty easily duplicated (see Troy Aikman). Obviously Thomas was a great player in his prime, but I'm not sure about now. He's old and has a history of concussions/migraines. Anybody know how much we'd sign him for? He's not a long-term solution, just a stop-gap in my opinion.

Stop Gap! How true. We need a solid LB to fill the gaps. Yes, sign him and draft a kid and let him be a player/coach on the field.
