Re: Saints have 39 million in cap s
Theres a few problems with that.....1) we wont go on a spending spree and 2)briggs and samuel are the only two FAs that could make a big impact now that everyone has been tagged. Personally, I dont wanna see us over spend for either.
(wait I forgot about crumpler...ahh we'd probably just get out bid for him anyway) |

I don't expect the Saints to go crazy with free agency, but they need to fill some major holes. It would also be a very good time to start locking up some core players to long term deals. Colston needs his contract redone in a bad way.

I wouldnt say we will get " a few" impact guys...but i do feel strongly about the Saints making a major play for Samuel and Florence. I dont think the Saints are going to be after Briggs. Plus, Briggs will land in either San Francisco or Washington. Quickly.

first sign our guys. Goodwin, Faine, Colston. Evans, Patton and Smith. That should leave enough to pickup some additional players for depth (which is not a key issue) and an impact player in FA. As for Briggs I would love the signing but not at the price of lossing our guys. The secondary is wide open, Add away.

Boy if San Fran picks up Briggs they are going to have a heck of a LB Corps.
The first thing they need to do with that 39.2 mil is, SIGN COLSTON TO A DEAL HE DESERVES!!!!!!!!! |

I agree with extending contracts of Colston, Smith, Evans, and Faine. There still should be quite a bit of cash left to still be major players in free agency if the Saints are that far under the cap. It would be great if they could pull in at least one top-notch player. I would love to see Samuel and Crumpler.

Please tell me that Algae "Big Drop" Crumpler isn't on our radar. That cap number also includes what we intend to spend on draft choices, so you can expect that $39M number to really be about $31M before we take care of current roster issues. There probably won't be but around $15M to throw at FA's, which should be plenty if we sign at least one quadraplegic cretin with Tourrettes to replace Jason David.
