Glenn Dorsey
We have all seen the mock drafts, and we can pretty much assume that Glenn Dorsey is going to get drafted very high. Lately, some of the mocks have this guy maybe slipping to the 5th spot. My question is when the draft starts, and if Dorsey starts to slide a little, should the Saints try to trade up and grab him? And at what point would you think the Saints should try this at, like if he falls past the 3rd spot, the 4th, or whatever, and what do you think it would cost in trade terms? Very interesting thought. He seems like a perfect fit for the Saints d-line, and appears to be ready to start on opening day.

Re: Glenn Dorsey
The question is who is willing to trade all the way to ten? Oakland is my first guess. To many high picks in recent years. Then I think the only way Glenn is at oakland is because they win the coin toss today. Even then they will probably take Mcfadden because the Rams will take Glenn if miami passes. Just to many good OT in this draft. I think Oakland will then trade a RB from the team after they pick. Just too many top ten picks to make it work. So unles you want a Dica type of draft just pass on the idea.

Re: Glenn Dorsey
If Dorsey falls that far, that probably means Ellis has done the same. I dont see the point in targeting Dorsey specifically. If both are falling, just wait it out until one is gone. even then I dont like the idea of trading and giving up picks for one guy. Itll probably cost us our second to move up to 4 or 5 and grab Dorsey. Personally, Id rather have something like Rivers and Lofton over just Dorsey or just Ellis.
The wildcard in this spot is Baltimore at #8, if one of the DTs are available and theyre taking a QB, I could see them working something with us to hurt cincy at #9. |

Re: Glenn Dorsey
A DT like Dorsey could make an immediate impact and HELP our LB's and secondary... I'm not saying make a crazy move, but don't pass on Dorsey if he's there.

Re: Glenn Dorsey
Sure, if Dorsey's there at 10 (haha) then we grab him. No argument (like that will ever happen).
But with regards to trading up.... no way. I'm all for trading DOWN in this draft, not up. As Missile said - get a DT in FA, and draft a young one next year. But right now, the first day of the draft should focus on LB's and secondary. |

As most of you know I am a super LSU fan and love them as much as I love the Saints, I just have a feeling Dorsey is going to have alot of injury problems in his NFL career. May the Tiger gods not strike me down for this.....but I say (with Purple and Gold tears), pass on Dorsey.

Re: Glenn Dorsey
Due to a death in the family, it appears that Dorsey isn't going to make it to the combine so I heard. It could hurt his draft stock a little causing both he and Ellis to fall a bit. So, we might have a realistic shot at one or the other.

I am not an advocate of trading up, either. This team needs way too much personnel to be giving it excessive draft picks for one player. I am a die-hard LSU fan, and my heart wants to see Dorsey with the Saints. However, I would not be willing to sell the farm for him.

Re: Glenn Dorsey
DT should be a main foucus of this team! We got no pressure on the QB! We need PRESSURE, PRESSURE, PRESSURE. The front 7 is what we all should care about. EXAMPLE: GIANTS did to the Pats.
Now I don't think we should trade up at all, I am all for trading back to grap more pics (more oppitunites to find gems). BUT!!! if Dorsey falls to 5 i'd start making calls and see what the price will be. Create some double teams on our line and it'll help create pressure. Not only that, you wanna put more butts in seats - draft Dorsey. |
