Is Stinch on the Trading Block
Though it would appear the Saints are settled at offensive tackle with Pro Bowler Jammal Brown and Jon Stinchcomb in place, our source in New Orleans told us not to be surprised if they select a tackle early in April’s draft. Word is, Stinchcomb is thought to be very replaceable, and his contract expires after the 2008 season.
The Way We Hear It - NFL pro football rumors and insider news from Pro Football Weekly I have said that Stinch maybe our best trade bait in the draft because of the OT we have drafted but the source goes a bit far here. If an OLT is there you have to take him, if he is the BPA and a trade fan not be reached. I see no way possible for the saints to just cut him. I look to the bench and think the answer is there. Maybe drafting some depth would be wise and moving Brown to RT also wise. I think you can use Stinch to move up the board as a third round pick in value, at the most. Who might be around for the saints to pick Ryan Clady, OT, Boise State ' He is my number reason a team will trade up to 10, right now. After that your guess is as good as mine, How all these good OT in the draft will fall is up in the air. This draft is almost 4 rounds deep in good OT, OG and a few OC sprinkled in for good messure. |

A little harsh there don't you think?
I think Clady would be a lovely addition to our line. You can never have too many good offensive lineman. I'd prefer us selecting a corner or defensive lineman though. |

Re: Is Stinch on the Trading Block
He could be on the trading block because the Saints may have seen enough in Zach Strief to have him start, and figure Stinchcomb wouldn't be back after 2008 anyway. Strief did look very promising when he got some playing time.

Zach Strief, I've been a big fan since we drafted him. I really thought he would be starter by now. I hope thing work out for him this year.

I think Stinch is expendable, but i just dont see him having much value on the trade market. I am a fan of Strief and i have heard that Bushrod is far superior to Stinch talent wise, but he still needs some seasoning. I am fine with moving on from him, but i dont see a market for him in a trade, and i would also be slightly disappointed if the saints drafted a tackle in the first round.
