I agree... we need the right talent for our system.

That's why free agency is key to this year's draft.

Schemes all have their strengths and weaknesses. Personally, I like the m2m schemes as long as you have the players. The m2m is predicated on having athletic CBs that can throw off QB-WR timing at the line and play catch-up with the reciver. You also need a quick D-Line that can get up field and pressure the QB into throwing the ball away or making a poor decision. If you do get beat, you're going to get beat fast.

If you look at the cover 2, it keeps everything in front of the seconday and uses small, fast LBs to keep up with TE's and backs. That's why quick hitters work pretty well against these D's. It's the bend-don't-break philosophy.

The 3-4 leans heavily on the LBs (especially OLB) to provide the pass rush. The DE's almost play like DTs in that they need to take up blockers and free up the LBs to make plays.

That's why I would entertain the idea of moving Grant to DT. He's not coming with the speed we need on the edge. The back-ups actually played pretty well last season. Maybe there's a DE in the draft, too.

I agree with you on this. Go after Justin Smith in FA for DE and move Grant to DT and draft LB and DB's. I probably should leave this alone but I just can't let missle keep bashing Orgeron before he has a chance to see what he can do. Just for a little background other than as missle wants to point out of his record at Ole Miss, Orgeron recruited Sedrick Ellis at USC. He also coached Patrick Willis at Ole Miss. He does appear to have an eye for defensive players and they seem to play well under his direction. Now if the Saints defensive line is worst this year than last year, missle I will buy you a few beers to apologize.

I'm not going to dissagree on Ogeron being a moron. I am very skeptical on his hiring, and for the same reasons that missile gave. But, who knows, sometimes failed head coaches, go back and become great assistant coaches. Jim Mora Jr. is a fine example of what I am talking about. He knows defense, but can't headcoach to save his life.

We will see about Ogeron, but Ole Miss is definately better off without him. I just wish he would have went to Tampa.

this is great. Ok he did not make a great head coach but that does not mean he is not a good position coach. Give the guy a chance. Are we hearing from our ole miss alums now?

His system will work if he had shutdown corners, fast LB's, and the front four had an attitude. I think poor talent evaluation last year cost us a year of rebuilding.
