this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; We thought Miami was going to land Brees... things happen. I remain optimistic about our chances... I'm sure we're trying really hard to land him....

Re: Nooooooooooo!!!!!!!!
He IS a playmaker but 11 mil is too rich in my opinion. Randle Gay would be a nice pickup or drayton florence as well. For far less money but not far less in ability.

I wonder what the backup plan is for the Saints assuming Samuel ends up in Philly? If he goes to Philly, does that mean they put Sheppard on the block? Do the Saints have their eyes on Florence or Gay or on anyone else? Either way it should be interesting. The fact that the Saints had CB as priority number 1, i believe they will be adding someone.

And then throw the possibility of landing Briggs into the mix, not to mention Lito Sheppard, not to mention a top 10 draft pick and you have to think that we should at least be a top 10-15 defense next year, if not better. There's plenty of ways for this team to improve dramatically on defense, even if we can't snag Samuel. |

Re: Nooooooooooo!!!!!!!!
If 11 mil is correct - then that's a phenomenal number. That's nearly 10% of the entire 2008 salary cap (with 52 other players still to sign). It certainly doesn't leave much cash for the rest of the team.
If that number is for real - then let the Eagles have him. They'll be good a cornerback, but hurting at other spots all over the field. Then we'll crush them in the NFC Championship game, we'll just throw away from Samuel. (Right... NFC Championship... well, if you're going to dream, might as well dream big). |
can anyone help me id this tune? it goes thwap thwap boom tch boom tch boom tch.
