I'm gonna miss seeing him get blitzed at Lucy's the night before games then watching him play hungover

Who is going to catch Brees when he jumps after he throws a TD pass?

Re: Thank Goodness Faine is GONE...

Must be a reason to celebrate. The "worst" center in the league is now the highest paid center in the league. Even stranger he went to a divisional rival that has played against him the past 2 years. They probably didnt watch any game tape and just went on the 4 games he played against them.
I guess we should be happy we get to play against the "worst" center in the league 2 times this year. We wont have to worry about the screen pass but the qb might have a little extra time to go deep on us not like they had much problems with that last year.
Well as bad as he was he sure got paid. Bucs didnt waste much time on it either I wonder if they thought other teams might be interested or they figured since they were up anyway might as well shell out 40 million. Some of the fans might not miss Faine but lets hope Brees doesnt think about him every time he gets sacked next year.
Getting better thru subtraction? Maybe not this time.

I thought Goodwin played much better than Faine in the 3-4 games he started. I don't think we miss a beat here and spend our money on the defense or maybe Faneca? Would that be a coup or what?

Re: Thank Goodness Faine is GONE...

Apparently, one of the ESPN guys (it may have been Mayock) has Faine listed as the #2 OL free agent behind Faneca. Interesting.

yea but mayock is also the guy who has mendenhall ahead of mcfadden........Mayock is a moron.

Or... a lot of Saints fans undervalue how good Faine really is. At least this year long debate is coming to an end.

To me the saints O-line played better when Goodwin was in there. In Faine's defense, I heard it is difficult to play center while hungover.

Good ridance. Too much $ for a center.

Jeff Faine GONE!

Friday roundup: Patriots CB Samuel visiting Eagles (7th story down the page)

What a way to go. I hope this isn't typical of our off-season free agent results. Faine has been with us (and Brees) for two good seasons. He's solid...has been solid...will be solid. We (Benson and company) let him go to Tampa with the play book, the audibles, and everything that he can carry to a conference rival. What else does a man have to do to get a few more million out of Benson? Tampa saw his stones and are going to pay him to anchor their middle. We had a few million in the CAP kitty too... If Jeff Faine, a 1st round pick out of college, and a proven solid force in the middle, a guy who touches the ball on every offensive play, who has built a relationship with Drew, who seems to not make many mistakes (never hear his name)...if he can't get a raise and a new deal, who can? Thanks Benny! I hope that your 3rd teir replacement is a diamond in the rough. Please wish us luck.

Re: Thank Goodness Faine is GONE...

I am with you on this Darstep. I didn't have an issue with Jeff. I liked his spirt and he just seemed loyal to Drew. I just don't think this was a good move for our Oline. I just hope the soul of the Oline hasn't been messed up.

I went to the Bucs' Fan2Fan site and they seem pretty happy about picking him up.
