Our front 7 maybe decent and run stopping but the Dome patrol was more known for its pass rushing. Which we are a far cry from. Even with Rivers I don't think we would come close too. |

Re: the possible new coming of the DOME PATROL
rivers has never played a down in pro football, vilma has never played a down with this squad, plus hes coming off a questionable injury, and fujita is a good, but at the same time very average LB..second coming of the dome patrol??? THE DOME PATROL?? youve got to be kidding me, these guys arent even close to being in that league.

Re: the possible new coming of the DOME PATROL
Every time I even hear of someone think about comparing any of our LB's to the D.P., it makes me want to overdose on a lethal mix of prescription meds. It's like the NBA...."this guy is the next Jordan!"....I call BS!!! There will never, EVER be another Jordan just like there will never, EVER be another Dome Patrol. If someone gets this started, I'm renting a short bus to go pick them up and have them committed.

Re: the possible new coming of the DOME PATROL
I firmly believe we need to get out of the 4-3. Whats wrong with having a combination of EVERYTHING. Come come out with the best formations and sets based on who you are playing against.
I think a major flaw isn't with the players but the D coaches. They don't know how to coach. They don't know how to teach disiplined defensive football. You can only go so much on talent then the coaching and brains come into it. Being in a 4-3 is suited to stop the run. You line up guys on the line to plug the wholes, thats it. 3-4 you can blitz from more areas, more schemes and drop back into coverages better. |

I cant say their the Dome Patrol until they make some hard hitting plays. Dome Patrol hit people so hard they had to get @ss whooping insurance.

Re: the possible new coming of the DOME PATROL
I remember SF's quarterback saying (paraphrased) "yeah, we always beat the Saints - but we hated playing them, because we were always sore and really hurting the next day". Awesome.
I don't think there will ever be another Dome Patrol again. I wear Sam Mills' number to this day. |
