Re: Saints sign Gay!
Signing a relative no-name from a good program and putting him in the starting role...
Gee, sounds a lot like Jason David. Nope it's GAY. I am not on board. This is a mistake Here's an idea... DRAFT a CB I am getting sick and tired of this game... WE'VE ONLY DRAFTED A CB IN THE FIRST ROUND ONE TIME!!!! LEARN FROM YOUR MISTAKES |
Re: Saints sign Gay!
hes actually a proven starter, not a random CB from a good team like David but I don't want to get into it, I got banned from WDZ for arguing about this.

That said, I wouldn't be upset if the Saints picked up a CB in the first round this year though I'd prefer Rivers if he's available. |
Re: Saints sign Gay!
LOL he just took Thomas off the roster. I look at that as an upgrade. He has not won the starts job yet. Lets waite till camp. He did bring in the Pats way of thinking though. tapes and all.

Re: Saints sign Gay!
Hey, at least his last name is not "Booty". Geez. Anyhoo, I like the signing, for the fact that with David as an alternative, it CAN'T get any worse. I am throwing my hat in for a DT, or a ball hawk safety in the first round. One of our safeties, MANY problems is, that they seem to get lost in coverage, and that is the biggest problem a safety can have. Even with pressure up front, if the safeties aren't covering the routes, then it's six points the other way. As I said before, there isn't a position on defense that doesn't need a significant upgrade, other than DE. I'm sticking to that. Can we just have a whole new deck please? : )

Re: Saints sign Gay!
Good call saintpaul. but do not look a the safeties in the draft for playmaking at 10. Look at the CB for that. They got some really good CB/S ballhawkers in this draft. Talbid is my choice in round one.
Reggie Smith, Oklahoma in round 2 Patrick Lee, Auburn in round 3 Dwight Lowery, San Jose State in round 4 Darnell Terrell, Missouri in round 5 Thats what you do with slower CB is move them to safety. The FS class is pretty weak this year as a whole but there are a couple of good projects among the group in the later rounds. |
Re: Saints sign Gay!
Keep bringing them in brother. Load the boat with D players and see how we can play them.

Now if he got traded to San Francisco, that would be another thing altogether! (Sales would triple if he was double slotted as a split end!) Sorry. It was just too easy guys! |

Jason David did NOT come from a good program. In fact, the Colts defense was notoriously bad for 2-3 years, until those 2 playoff games in 2006. |
Re: Saints sign Gay!
wow and here I though the New Orleans New Orleans Saints were looking to turn things around
then I read this and get ready for it folks cause here we go again this will be another Jason David mark my words wasted money on a guy that was good in the start of his playing days not a good choice IMO |
Re: Saints sign Gay!
Afterthought…
I’m not saying the guy can’t play but lets get real he is average and at this position the Saints don’t need average we need a caliber of player that is amazing or even incredible I don’t care what he was ranked at on some website he simply didn’t perform to his pay class last year and that’s why he was a FA this year All I am trying to point out here is that that money could have been better spent |
Re: Saints sign Gay!
Read the pats bio of him:
Randall Gay - Official New England Patriots Biography Sounds like reserve/nickel to them, starter for us? |
Gay heads home with a $17m deal
Gay heads home with a $17m deal - The Boston Globe
Still, Elias said Gay was sad to leave the Patriots and credited the team for helping the cornerback cash in because of the way it developed and deployed him during his four seasons in New England. The agent stressed there were no hard feelings with the Patriots and said Gay parted with coach Bill Belichick and the team on good terms. |
Re: Gay heads home with a $17m deal
Gay was relegated to nickel duty in New England because he played behind two very good corners. I don't think we can really say whether or not he'll be good in a starting role until we see him in that role.

Re: Gay heads home with a $17m deal
I've just seen some games where he looked pretty good. I really hope he turns out ok.
I believe Usama will be a lot better this year. When playing a lot happens between the seasons mentally. you watch fil of your performance and it kinda grows on you. Work hard, good coaching and we might se a greatly improved player this year. |

Another QUOTE - "You got that wrong. Jason David did NOT come from a good program. In fact, the Colts defense was notoriously bad for 2-3 years, until those 2 playoff games in 2006." My Bad, I thought a team who wins... 10 plus games every year was doing something right. Build thru the DRAFT... |
