Let's hope Saints' moves turn out as good as they look
Let's hope Saints' moves turn out as good as they look- NOLA.com
Linebacker Jonathan Vilma (trade from the Jets), cornerback Randall Gay (free-agent signee from the Patriots) and defensive end Bobby McCray (free-agent pickup from the Jaguars) are symbols of the Saints' commitment to upgrading a porous defense. They are pieces that are glaringly necessary if the team wants to climb back to the level of contender. But so were linebacker Brian Simmons, cornerback Jason David and safety Kevin Kaesviharn last year. |

and this all seems odd because???????
Remember what team we root for people. "HOPE", should be this years t-shirt. Here is the first commercial of the year. Now picture in you head; the screen gives you the look through a helmet. Across from you is a WR. (Heart beat in the background) Then, you here a voice: "Oh man, I "HOPE" the QB doesn't throw the ball to this guy" The camera pans back to reveil the you were Jason David. The screen fades out to the word....."HOPE". When it's all said and done with "hope" is all Saints fans really have at the begining of the season. So in the words of Tiny Tim, "God Bless us, everyone." |
"We are number one. All others are number two, or lower."

Re: Let's hope Saints' moves turn out as good as they l
just caught wind a mediocre corner back was just placed on injured reserve on the AFL Desperados - mickey loomis
hurry up and sign him before someone else scoops him up, he seems to fit right into our philosophy and system. earn it. - sean payton WHY are the Saints constantly trying to build new houses with used, sub-par lumber. Randall Gay - oh yeah, HE ought to do it. Jason David reborn. Vilma - GET REAL, the dude just missed half a season when a piece of dead bone got lodged in his knee. i just hope he was worth the risk McCray - was he even in the NFL? Lehan - no explanation necessary released brian simmons over mark simoneau...this man love for simoneau is worse than brooks and haslett none of this looks good to me. much less a sure bet. these moves show me that the saints still aren't serious. eventually, if you want to win you're going to have to cough up some money and sign a named playmaker. |

Re: Let's hope Saints' moves turn out as good as they l
First of all, know one could have guessed that 1st Down David was going to be such a bust. I doubt that Brian Simmons was playing better than Mark Simoneau or he would have been on the field more. Jonathan Vilma might not work out, but odds are that he will and we will be better for it. Vilma is a "Playmaker" and was a very sought after LB in free agency. Was Drew Brees worth the risk? I doubt that Gay is penciled in a starter, however, he will have his opportunity to try in camp. McCray did pretty well for the Jags, he isn't going to start, he is only going to be in a rotation with Smith and Grant. Know one can tell what impact a new player will have after signing him. I think the team is obviously committed to shoring up a pretty bad defense. I'm not worried about the defense. I think it will be addressed in the draft as well. Besides not getting Asante Samuel, who else did this team miss as far a free agent defensive players?

Don't hammer me too much but what are the chances David being a suprise improvment next year after a full year in our system and a full training camp under his belt? I know it is hard to imagin because he was so bad, but is mediocre too much to ask?
