this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Jonathon Vilma....hands down. While Gay will be an upgrade compared to Jason David, what exactly does that say? Hell....my sister would be an upgrade to Jason David. I do think McCray will be more of a contributor than most people ...

Re: Which new player will have the biggest impact
Jonathon Vilma....hands down. While Gay will be an upgrade compared to Jason David, what exactly does that say? Hell....my sister would be an upgrade to Jason David. I do think McCray will be more of a contributor than most people think. If for anything, he'll help Smith & Grant get a breather. I'd still like to see us make a deal for DeAngelo Hall or Lito Sheppard. I think that I would sleep better at night knowing we had a legitimate #1 CB roaming the field on Sundays. Still..... Usama Young is looking better every day. I think he makes a better #2 CB than what we put on the field last year. Hopefully Payton is paying attention. Last, but not least....we need a safety!!!! Harper has played fairly well, but the rest are atrocious!!!!!!

Re: Which new player will have the biggest impact
I've heard others talking about moving Talbid over, saying he'd be a good fit at FS. But I haven't watched any of his play myself, and so I can't say. I trust your read on it though.
Realistically, do you think we have a good chance of trading down? Personally, I think we're in perfect position. I know teams sometimes shy away from the top 10 picks, because of the risk associated with such costly contracts, and the massive hits to salary caps. But I think at about 10, things start to be come more manageable, teams become more willing, so we might be able to pull this trade off. So I'm thinking - 1) trade down in the first round towards the bottom, and use that pick to get Phillips. KK stays as a backup, but Bullocks gets put on the trading block. 2) use the additional pick to get a replacement for Shanle. Doing so would solve the two worst problems on the team (IMO), but still leave us with 2nd and 3rd rounders to draft best available talent. Fantasy land? |
can anyone help me id this tune? it goes thwap thwap boom tch boom tch boom tch.
