I think this is the best thing for him. He isn't getting any publicity. I know they made a big deal about his free flo do or whatever last offseason.. but I like Reggie under the radar for a change.

Re: Is Reggie Even Training
Well, he's had about eight weeks already. He needs to get in the gym with the guys and hit the weights hard. Not only to improve as a player but also to show the rest of the team that he's comitted to getting better and winning.

Re: Is Reggie Even Training
I realize that but at the same time hes a kid, in his early 20s, with a lot of living to do. I didnt say he shouldnt be staying in shape and working out. But to think he needs to constantly be in NO working out is asking a bit much from him, or anyone. Let him take his vacations and enjoy the offseason a little bit. I think sometimes people expect way too much of him.

I agree and I think 8 weeks is a pretty long vacation. How long is it for the average Joe working at the factory? He's in his 20s making millions of dolalrs on a job that demands that your in perfect physical condition.

If I (and many other countless Soldiers) don't commit myself 100% to that...well, people die. Commitment to others, is a hell of a responsibility. Reggie has that responsibility, maybe not life or death commitment, but maybe the death of a team. Kid or not, he is making the money of a man. This is no longer for high school glory or for the Grand Ole College. This is for a coorperation, sponsor's, and most importantly....ticket paying merchandise buying FANS.
I understand about taking breaks and getting away from your job to relax. However, Reggie has not had a "Good" year in the NFL, yet. If there are issues with this team not meshing with him as a "Unit", he SHOULD want to prove to his team that he is commited 100% to THEM. With his recent acts (in the news), Reggie is not showing the fans nor his team, that he is commited. The same expectations are asked from everyone that has a job, from the fry guy at Burger King to the CEO of Nabisco. Commitment to the "Team", not to yourself. Selfless Service, a very hard personal value to live by, indeed. JMO Sapper |
