Mike Jenkins
Came across some highlight film on Jenkins...the kickoff return and the hit are the two things that stood out to me the most...apparently he was offered scholarships from Nebraska, LSU, Auburn and USF...he chose USF because they were up and coming versus the other established big time colleges...his coach referred to him as a lock-down corner...I don't think we can go wrong taking this guy at 10...just my thoughts...enjoy the video

Re: Mike Jenkins
Is it me, or did they show the same interception about 5-6 times.

Re: Mike Jenkins
... you don't choose USF over LSU or Auburn (Nebraska I can see because they've stunk the past few years) because USF is "up and coming". That's crap. LSU has USF beaten in sports, national exposure, academics, and just about everything other aspect , other than USF being closer to the beach than LSU. That tells me that either he was afraid of t level of competition, or he got more perks to go to USF.
The "highlight" video , is not much of a highlight video at all, showing the same play 3-4 times, and he did not look fast on the KR, more like the other team couldn't tackle my grandmother. Nope, 10 spot belongs to Rivers or Connor. |

Re: Mike Jenkins
Jenkins is a good prospect, but I don't know how long til he is ready to contribute - he is a pretty raw prospect. Also, last season, he profited from one of the best pass rushes in the country with George Selvie giving QBs very little time to throw. All said, I still wouldn't mind him at 10.

Re: Mike Jenkins
Merces...
I disagree with you on Jenkins speed...if that is not fast/quick...then I don't know what is...and btw thanks for breaking down Jenkins reasons for going to USF...Did you see he is from Bradenton, FL...i guess playing near family and friends never crossed his mind...I know this is a friendly forum but you shouldn't just jump to conclusions and throw spears without considering all of a player's potential reasons for selecting one school over another...let's be fair...he could become a Saint for all we know ![]() The point of the video was to simply make light of some of his skills IF RIVERS IS TAKEN PRIOR TO 10...I guess I should have been more detailed but I didn't think someone would mistaken me for selecting jenkins over rivers...never...I believe without a doubt that Rivers is the pick at 10...however if he is gone by 10 I do not see your arguement for connors at 10...a Cornerback will be selected before connors...now if the Saints trade down...connors makes sense but 10 is reaching IMO look...it's all about spirited conversation...the bottom line is we are all saints fans and want to see them get back to the playoffs and thus the superbowl...I just want the pick to be of good value and one that makes sense from a defensive standpoint |

I would hope everyone would agree that (among the many desirable qualities) you want in a football player on your team: driven - wants to play professional football above all things and willing to do whatever it takes to get there motivated - a self starter that seeks out the best opportunities and puts himself in a position to take advantage strong - comfortable under the spotlight and at ease under pressure I can't really think of a good reason to pick USF over over LSU (or Auburn for that matter) if your overriding goal in life is to play in the NFL. I don't know why the guy did it but it seems an odd choice, if the information about his potential scholarships is accurate. |

USF can be accused of many things, but never of being "up and coming" football powerhouse. The SEC is the biggest stage in college football. If you ball and you get a chance to play in the biggest stage in college football with 2 solid programs, you are telling me you are going to forgo the better academic institution (LSU) and the biggest stage in college football to stay close to mommy and your buds and attend a school like USF? To me, that doesn't sound right. .. and in relation to Central Florida, is not like Louisiana or Alabama are in the Pacific North West. They're a bus ride away. He better hope he gets drafted by the Bucs or the Dolphins.. Jacksonville would be too far... |
