this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; NFL Football Player Rankings - CBSSports.com Depressing list, as New Orleans is hardly mentioned. No surprise there. More of a surprise is Antwan Lake ranked higher than Charles Grant....

Re: DL rankings
our run D was good last year cuz teams could easily throw for 400+ yards a game on us. those stats are misleading.

Re: DL rankings
Well, I believe that can be debated. The DL is also responsible for pass rushing. I admit we did a very good job of stopping the run - but you've got to admit our pass rush was non-existent.
My analysis is our players are covering the 0/1 gap just fine, but 3 gap is suffering. I don't know if that's bad play of the DT, bad play of the DE, both, or just poor scheming. Whatever it is, I'm wondering if we need a 3 technique DT in there shooting the gap. (Dewayne Robertson strikes me as just that kind of guy. <hint hint>) Regardless, I was surprised to see Charles Grant SOOOOO far down this list, behind Orien Harris and ??Antwan Lake?? Note Bryan Young almost didn't make the list at all, down around 300 - he gets a get out of jail free card from LoE - pneumonia. Charles Grant, on the other hand - something's got to CHANGE. He's getting paid way too well to perform so poorly. |
can anyone help me id this tune? it goes thwap thwap boom tch boom tch boom tch.

Re: DL rankings
This list is crap. Look at some of the other lists. They have Stecker and JJ Arrington ranked ahead of Michael Turner and Reggie Bush.

Re: DL rankings
True.... and don't forget McCray is in the rotation at DL as well... It's a hopeful thought. If both of those LB's are on the field, then I think you're right about the DL turning loose.
But let's not forget - both of our upgrades at LB have medical problems. I'll consider us fortunate if even one of them is on the field consistently. But both might be wishful thinking. I think it's more realistic to suspect Vilma might be held out for a bit (pushing down his cost in that conditional trade while healing and strengthing up), and that Morgan is going to get another concussion a couple games into the season. Theoretically, neither of those guys could be on the field, which is a very discouraging thought. |
