We Might Be in Trouble...

Am I the only one who is getting a little concerned about what Tampa Bay is doing this offseason? It seems like they are loading up and getting serious about contending again. They have been committed to upgrading their entire offense. They've brought in help at o-line, TE, RB, WR, and QB. But what stands out to me is how bad they are trying to get playmakers at WR. So far they've signed Antonio Bryant (who is a nut job but the guy can play when he wants to) and it seems like they've been in the running for every player I hear rumors about including Bryant Jonhson from Arizona. It'll be interesting to see how we will handle a potential WR corps of Galloway, Johnson, Bryant, and Clayton. I'm not saying that that would be the best receiving corp in the league but that mixture of size and speed would be a tough match up. They'll look good on paper going into next season and they'll be good on Madden, but let's hope that Garcia comes back down to earth and their QB situation get's ugly.

Tampa had a truck load of money in FA and you have a right to worry. They have spent their money wisely.

Last I heard, that had something like 40 MILLION available - that's an incredible number. And let's not forget that they already swept us last year... So yeah, I'm concerned about them. Very much so.

Re: We Might Be in Trouble...

Jeff Garcia - 38 years old, missed 2 games b/c of injury
Joey Galloway - 37 years old
Antonio Bryant - missed the whole 2007 season; 1 good season in the NFL
Michael Clayton - consistently inconsistent; only good season in 2004

Bryant Johnson - non-issue, hasn't signed with Tampa yet

Name wise they look good on paper... but that's about it.

Thank god for that much. Still Garcia with time can make even a good secondary look bad.

Chuckie has done well grasshopper.

I thought they were serious until they signed Antonio Bryant

They didn't look nearly as good on paper last year and they were still pretty good. With all the players they brought in I don't see how they won't be even better. But like I said, hopefully Garcia starts playing like a 38 year old and the offense will fall apart.

Bryant Johnson signed with the 49ers.

So they've signed Antonio Bryant and Warrick Dunn... who's on the decline. I forgot to mention they've also added Jeff Faine who many Saints fans deem disposable. Their offense doesn't look much different from last year.

And now they've signed Eugene Wilson.

Buccaneers sign Wilson to one-year deal

Says they will play him at corner? Thoughts?

... scared of what?? Why??
reality check here: the Bucs weren't THAT good last year. The Saints, Panthers, and Falcons stunk it up. The Bucs beat the likes of the Cardinals, Lions, Rams, Skins... I mean, what team tanks the last 2 games of the season with a 9-5 record and a secured playoff spot?

Re: We Might Be in Trouble...

I'm glad they didn't get B. Johnson, not that he's Randy Moss or anything but he's a good pro WR. They also signed Troupe. You guy's might laugh that I bring up the Antonio Bryant signing but anybody who has seen him play knows how well he could fit into Tampa Bay's offense. But who knows if he'll even be on the roster come opening day, the guy is a train wreck.

Who said that they were scared? I said I was concerned with the way Tampa Bay is going all out trying to bring in more talent to a team that made the playoffs last year. Nobody is comparing the Bucs to the Pats but you can't say that the Bucs weren't a good team last year. Sure the rest of the NFC South was bad but they still went to the playoffs and our season resulted in nothing but a high pick in this year's draft.
