The Saints traded a conditional draft choice to the Jets for Vilma, and signed Morgan, McCray and Gay as free agents.

"It's not enough to just improve the defense," Vilma said. "You hope to improve it to the point where you're winning. If you're not winning games, and divisions, and going to Super Bowls, then you haven't improved enough. You have to improve the defense and be able to win with the defense."
