You have no idea. Nnamdi Asomugha is argubaly the best cornerback in the NFL, easily the best pure man cover corner in the league. Nnamdi Asomugha may not put up Pro Bowl numbers, but that is because, like Champ, no one throws to him anymore. INTs are way overlooked these days. Asomugha is way better than Hall, its not even funny.

Saying that Asomugha is "easily the best pure man cover corner in the league" is a bold statement. Don't get me wrong the guy is great but the best in the league? Would you rather have Asomugha over Champ? I think you underestimate D. Hall. He has a loud mouth and he is a punk but the guy is a flat out playmaker.

Let me ask you this. If you could have any cornerback in the league come to the Saints, who would it be?

1. Champ Bailey
2. Nnamdi Asomugha
3. Antonio Cromartie (he's still young, and not in his prime)
4. Al Harris
5. Terrence Newman

Behind Champ Bailey, Nnamdi Asomugha is the best corner in the NFL. And not only is he younger, but I think Asomugha is just an overall more complete corner. He is 6-2, 210, good against the run, and a lock down man cover corner.

That's a great question Waazup but the list you gave me to pick from isn't even the top 5 corners in the league. First off T. Newman shouldn't be on a list of the top corners in the league. He was great in college and I really thought he'd be a great pro but for some reason he never lived up to the hype. He is so much slower than he used to be. Al Harris isn't a top five guy and I wouldn't pick him because of his age. I think Champ is the best but as far as bringing a top corner to the Saints I'd rather have a younger guy. So as far as your list goes that leaves Cromartie and Asomugha. Cromartie is a freak and he'll probably have a great career but I'd be worried about injuries with him. Florida State fans will remember how frustrating he could be. When he's on the field he changes the game but he's been hurt alot. That leaves Asomugha and I'd do cartwheels if he came to the Saints!

Like I said Waazup, Asomugha is great. I'm a big fan of tall corners who can shut down one side of the field. I see where you're coming from on this one.

interceptions do not define a good/great corner.. it's more about passing yards givin up. asomugha is a very good cover corner, regardless how many INTS he has.

The simple fact is that McKenzie is one of the best corners in the NFL and Jason David is the absolute worst. He's worse than throwing to a hold in the zone. Now that's bad.

Maybe the numbers there can help the discussion.

One interesting point there is that Ty Law was in real good shape. Isn't he still available? Maybe the Saints can sign him for a year as a stopgap.

Nnamdi Asomugha, CB Raiders has yet to sign his tender offer after he was slapped with the franchise tag by the Raiders; one suggestion is that if the DeAngelo Hall, ATL to OAK trade goes though that the Raiders could potential remove the franchise tag making him a UFA; in that scenario with most teams having spent their cap room already, you could see a team making some serious moves (release/cuts/restructuring) to grab this guy...

He's a Lafayette boy, sold out to geaux out da state though in college; but it would be an interesting homecoming if the Saints could make it happen...

Among others, Florio has posted on his site, ProFootballTalk.com - Rumor Mill comments on the situation...

Can't see a team tying up that much money on Both CB's, so who knows...

Asomugha is a great CB. Even if the Raiders land Hall, I don't really think they would let Asomugha go. Al Davis is getting very old and wants to right the ship a.s.a.p.

As far as the Saints going after Hall, that would be a complete waste of time. There is no way the Falcons would deal a pro bowl CB to a division rival, especially since part of the deal would pretty much have to include a contract extension.

No, my friend....what's funny is you hyping Asomugha as "arguably the best cornerback in the league" & "easily the best pure man cover in the league". Are you serious? How many Pro Bowls has he been to? How many years has he been in the league? You are entitled to your opinions, but I prefer the facts:

Fact #1: D. Hall has been to more Pro Bowls.

Fact #2: D. Hall has better stats over 5 years than Asomugha has in 6 years.

Fact #3: While the Raiders have their problems, they have a solid pass rush. This makes it easier for a CB to cover in man to man.

Fact #4: This is an important one....If Asomugha is so much better than D. Hall, why are the Raiders actively trying to get D. Hall & holding discussions on trading Asomugha. Are they trying to downgrade to win ball games?

Look...I don't like D. Hall's personality. Hell....I didn't like "Prime Time's" personality. But....if the guy is good CONSISTENTLY (every year)....you've got to respect his play on the field.

Sorry Waazup....D. Hall may be a big mouth, but he is a top 5 CB in the league. Asomugha barely breaks in the top 10.
