.. Thanks Biloxi. And seems I was wrong on one count: Matt Jones is actually faster than Devery :) |
Re: Matt Jones Likely Done in Jacksonville
I think I would still go with Devery. Devery is a role WR. The deep threat making plays over 50 yeards. Jones doesn't have one.

...again, if the OC doesn't send Jones 50 yards down the field AND the QB throws the ball to him, he's never going to have any 50 yard catches. The only reason Devery caught 1 pass for over 50 yards last year is because he dropped the other 5-6 Brees threw to him. Personally, I don't see the relevance in who's got the longest reception, but I do see relevance in a WR often dropping easy balls that cost the team 3rd downs and kill drives. |
Re: Matt Jones Likely Done in Jacksonville
Remember The jags by no means have ever been called a wide open offense.

Re: Matt Jones Likely Done in Jacksonville
I don't know what Jone's dimensions are, but I recall that when he was drafted that a he was a freak when it came to physical tools. Is there any chance that he could be converted to a TE? Or is he just to fragile to be an effective blocker?
He's got great spead, any chance of converting to a db? |
Re: Matt Jones Likely Done in Jacksonville
I'd hands down take Matt Jones over Devery Henderson right now, even though Jones has never lived up to his potential. The one thing that I think he has suffered from the most is a hampering offense and not being put in the right positions in the offense. I think he could really have a chance to shine here in New Orleans with the wide open offense.
For Devery, he's not going to get any better. The fact about it is that he just doesn't have good hands. He makes big drops in big situations and can kill a drive with the best of 'em. |
