It is no coincidence that consistently winning teams have excellent secondaries.

To get the ball off quickly, the QB needs an open target. No open receiver means more time for the D Line to collapse the pocket and get to the QB.

My original point was that great cover corners are few and far between.

If DRC or McKelvin are that good, and Dorsey / Ellis are gone ??

great cover corners are useless if the Dline cant get to the qb....
i guarantee that there are more completions given up because of no pressure on the quarterback then there are coverage sacks...

If this is 'gospel' then we should stop worrying about DB's.

Let's go DE / DT Rd 1, 2, 3.

Re: CB or DE / DT That is the Question

Well I couldn't agree more, we need to stop worrying about CB's until we can get some pressure on the damn QB. Its really pointless to have good CB's if you don't have a line to put pressure on the QB... It starts with the front 7. If they can't put any pressure on the QB what does it matter? Any ELITE CB can NOT cover a WR all day. You should not put that pressure on one man... man to man unless you get pressure.

Re: CB or DE / DT That is the Question

you only have to look back to last years playoffs when the giants held 3 of the top 5 offenses in the league to well under their scoring averages....

the giants secondary were terrible all year long but in the playoffs they shut down the patriots, cowboys, and packers b/c they were getting mad pressure on the quarterback...
