Killer Draft Day Moves???

we do got a 4th rd pick. the pick we dealt to the jets is a conditional pick for 2009 draft. it could b a up 2 a 2nd rd pick depending on his performance in the '08 season and playing time. also if he signs a long term contract w/ saints is factored in. Hester is a gr8 player but i think ur reaching 4 him. he a very late 5th at best. good value 4 him would b in 6th or 7th. i like trevor laws from ND in the 3rd. hes a bowling ball of a DT and hes got a no stop motor. hes a stronger, faster, less injury prone brian young.

no.. we dont..

In the trade for Vilma we gave the Jets our 4th round draft pick in the 2008 draft. No matter how Vilma plays next year we have lost the 4th round pick this year.

The trade for Vilma also incorporates our 2 and 3 round draft picks for the 2009 draft. These higher picks depend on how Vilma performs this upcoming year and if he signs a long-term deal....

If he plays great up the performance standards but does NOT re-sign then they get our 3rd next year..

If he plays up to the standards and re-signs then they get our 2nd next year...

If he doesnt play up to the standards then they dont get anything unless he resigns... then they would still get our 2nd...

If the Saints have to surrender a 2nd or 3rd next year we will get acquire the Jets 4th round pick in 2009 as compensation.

All in all Vilma will cost the saints at least one draft pick over the next two years.
