Boy is it a busy month! I just got off the phone with one of my sources, here’s what he had to say about the teams in the Top 10: Miami - The Dolphins are currently negotiating with Jake Long to be the #1 Overall pick in the draft. Tony Sparano’s background as an offensive line coach obviously makes this pick seem logical. St. Louis - If available, don’t expect the Rams to take Jake Long. St. Louis has invested too much money on their offensive line to add another Top 3 pick. While people in the media continue to bring up Orlando Pace, there’s a lot of talk in St. Louis that the team isn’t as concerned as people have been led to believe. Glenn Dorsey is one of the favorites from this pick. If Jake Long is the first pick, then I’d expect Chris Long to get heavy consideration. Atlanta - Don’t be surprised if the Falcons pass on Matt Ryan for a player like Glenn Dorsey. Their head coach is defensive minded and will likely lean towards a defensive player. Oakland - While people continue to say that Darren McFadden will go to Oakland, there are some who are forgetting the fact that the Raiders have one of the worst offensive lines in the league. McFadden is obviously the favorite, however I wouldn’t put it past them to go in a different direction. Kansas City - The Chiefs are very high on USC’s Sedrick Ellis. Defensive line coach Tim Krumrie reportedly was very impressed with Ellis at USC’s Pro Day. While Matt Ryan is an obvious option, I wouldn’t be surprised if they went with Ellis instead. New York Jets - Nothing new on the Jets, however Vernon Gholston recentlysaid that he feels he’ll be one of the top two picks in the draft. New England - Keith Rivers is a player to seriously keep an eye on with this pick. Despite what the media thinks, the Patriots are more likely to go with Rivers or trade the pick rather than go with a cornerback. Baltimore - Cornerback seems to be the logical fit right now. If Leodis McKelvin is there, I’m thinking they jump on him. Cincinnati - The three players that the Bengals are targeting are Glenn Dorsey, Sedrick Ellis, and Keith Rivers. They are also reportedly willing to trade up if they have to in order to secure one of their guys. New Orleans - The Saints really like South Florida’s Mike Jenkins, so keep an eye out for him. They are also high on USC’s Keith Rivers. Other News: Oklahoma wide receiver Malcolm Kelly ran 40 times of 4.75 and 4.68 at his Pro Day today. Kelly’s vertical leap was 32 inches. He also reportedly look “very good” in position drills. Teammate Reggie Smith ran 4.65 and 4.61. I think that it is very likely that both slip out of the 1st Round now. I spoke with Vanderbilt offensive tackle Chris Williams today. He told me that he just had a visit with Tampa Bay and has visits scheduled with Houston, San Diego, New York Giants, Kansas City, St. Louis, and Washington.
