Re: Iowa Hawkeye DB Charles Godfrey?

Here is a link with a quick write up on him. I think he is bigger than what he is listed. I was thinking he was like 6'1 or so, I could be wrong.

Draft Scout Charles Godfrey News

02/10/08 - PRO POTENTIAL: CB Charles Godfrey participated in the Senior Bowl. He tied for third in the Big Ten with five interceptions and collected 65 tackles (42 solos). The Iowa secondary gave up 13 touchdown passes in 12 games, third-fewest in the conference after Ohio State (nine) and Michigan (11).

01/23/08 - Senior Bowl Wednesday North Team Practice: Charles Godfrey, CB, Iowa: Former track athlete who is a bit raw in technique. He can turn and run with any receiver. Must learn to play smart, though…he pushed down WR Lavelle Hawkins to the ground when the Cal wideout initiated contact to get separation on an 18-yard out. That's a penalty, Charles...especially since the ball whizzed to their side of the field.

01/21/08 - Senior Bowl Monday North Team Practice: Iowa's Charles Godfrey showed flashes of his athleticism, breaking on the ball and running with even the fastest receivers down the field. He was beaten to the inside a bit and his balance was will be watched closely, as he was put to his knees on a downfield juke by running back Justin Forsett.

His main pass coverage assignment caught a total of fifteen passes for 117 yards (7.8 avg) vs. Godfrey, who saw a total of 40 balls caught in his area for 298 yards (7.45 avg)…Did not allow any touchdown receptions.
thats pretty impressive no matter when u play ball at...

Re: Iowa Hawkeye DB Charles Godfrey?

Solid. Alot of mocks have him going in the third. Look for him to go in the second. I really like him. Hitter. Thats the word I would describe him with. I would love to see him at S for the saints.

Charles Godfrey, Iowa, 5116, 208, 4.44 (CB/S tweener)

Godfrey, a senior from Iowa, is one of the bigger cornerback prospects in the country. He is a well-seasoned corner who possesses all the skills necessary to succeed at the next level. Godfrey has the excellent size with a solid frame and long arms to jam receivers at the line, even at the next level. Physical from beginning to end. Jams receivers and knocks off their routes. Godfrey is not only big and strong, but he's as fast in pads as most in the country. A fantastic athlete with a real quick burst to close. His sound open field tackling was developed during his time playing special teams as a freshman and starting at free safety as a sophomore. Godfrey shows great ball skills while in coverage and is great in run support. Physical and aggressive, Godfrey has notched 193 tackles in his four years with the Hawkeyes. He will deliver the big hit.
Has been known to be too aggressive and be completely out of the position. Can't keep up down field with elite speed receivers. Extremely raw and still learning the position. Has to work on his technique when it comes to footwork and positioning. Marginal instincts, awareness resulting in him giving up too many big plays. He relies too heavily on his natural talent
His experience at multiple positions, along with his strength and speed, should help him find himself amongst the top tier of cornerbacks in this draft. Still improving and has a huge upside.
Charles Godfrey will turn out to be a diamond in the rough for some NFL franchise. May just be scratching the surface of potential. Excels in cover skills, very good in run support.
