Well you can debate he'll be a cancer because one can change is stars but its fact the Giants got him out of the locker room with an engery and the team went on to win the SB. Don't need him.

I really don't know if the player is a Cancer. I just don't think we need another player who hasn't played a full season in while. I might be wrong.

I am not against getting him because he is a "cancer", I am against getting him because it of what it would cost us

Johnson and Miller had 75 catches between them last year. Yes, 75. I mean, how much more are we going to throw to the TE next year, with or without Shockey? J & M also had 4 TD's vs Shockey's 3.
No, I am not saying Shockey would not be an improvement, I am saying that he isn't worth what it would take to get him.

Thats a very good point what will it cost the Saints. He's not worth a first, maybe a third.

I don't belive Shockey is a cancer... But I alos don't believe he is right for this team.

Why not make a move on a guy like LJ Smith or Kellen Winslow?

Kellen Winslow the father YES the Kid NO. Dam his head is so big I'm suprised a hemet fits on it.

The kid is not his father and would be lucky if he could be half the TE his father was.

look sean knows and has coached him. So if he thinks he is the man then by all means get him. Shockey and Johnson on the field in dual TE set on third and two? talk about a secondary nightmare.

I decided to abstain, because my feeling wasn't listed.

No: because he'll cost too much in picks/players and any offensive improvement will in fact be marginal.

We're already a top 3 offense in the league.

Last time I checked, the #1 offense from the last two years, including the best offense in the history of the game last year, did not in fact win the SB.

The sig is a reminder of what we really need to do.

..funny, neither did the #1 defense.. balance, that's what's all about..

...as for Shockey, you and ScottF made good points... however, I just don't like Johnson. He looks awkward out there, and seems that every timet anyone hits him he's going to break. I like Miller better than Johnson.

I voted either way Geaux Saints. I know if I would have said screw him, he probably would have came out like a beast and took us to the superbowl then I would be a total hypocrate :)

I believe Shockey is still one of the premier tight ends in the league and agree with Merces. Something about Johnson does not add up. Johnson at times appears to have really soft hands but cannot avoid being clobbered. Everytime He gets hit I expect to see the ball pop out or for Him to stay down. I think some kind of trade needs to be worked out for an active roster player ( Maybe Stecker and David Ha!) and a high round draft choice. LOOMIS PLEASE DO NOT PULL ANOTHER MIKE DITKA ON US. Most everyone believes DEFENSE is our priority and I also feel we need another back (Forte) but that would be the only offensive player I would take. Defense has to compliment the offense. the old saying still rings true DEFENSE wins SUPERBOWLS

umm. he is a perfect fit for this team. Brees made Gates look like a god in SD. if we made a move it sure wouldn't be for LJ Smith, maybe Winslow(who happens to be the same type of player as shockey) but not LJ.

Shockey and Johnson were impressive when they faced each other in the playoffs in 2003.. I can't imagine both on the same team in the playoffs this season. I'm not for or against getting Shockey.. I just don't want to lose all our picks in the mid rounds, bc I believe there is great value in the draft after round one.
