Might Chris Long fall to Saints

This was posted on Pro Football Talk Monday Morning one liners-

Could USC LB Keith Rivers really be drafted before Virginia DE Chris Long?

This raises the possibility of Chris Long, Ellis, Dorsey falling to us. I think this would be better if one of them fell to us. It would address more of a need. I definitely think 10 is too early to take a corner. Here is the link

Absolutely not. Chris Long is as close to a top-5 lock as anybody else in this draft.

Dude,
April Fools is over. Long goes one or two, but definitely not past the Raiders.

Ellis would be the one that would have a remote chance to fall to us. Your right Long won't fall. With River's super impressive Pro day he may jump from top 10 to top 5. I just wouldn't pick Leodis Mckelvin at 10. If Rivers and the others aren't there I would trade out of the pick.

Re: Might Chris Long fall to Saints

I think the Chiefs HAVE to get a LT in this draft. I don't think they have anyone on their roster that can play LT at this time. They were worst in the league in sacks allowed and rushing yds per game last year. I believe out of all of the teams in the top 5 they will be the most likely to trade down with us with us giving up the least amount to do it.
If the draft shapes out like this don't be the least bit suprised to see us move up to 5.
1) Miami: Jake Long
2) St. Louis: Chris Long
3) Atlanta: Matt Ryan
4) Oakland: McFadden
5) New Orleans: Dorsey
6) New York: Gholston
7) Patriots: McKelvin, Cromartie, or Rivers
8) Ravens: McKelvin, Cromarite, or Ellis
9) Bengals: Rivers or Ellis
10) Kansas City: Clady

Let's just say I really really think this might happen. Not sure what we would have to give up to move up 5 spots, but given the Chiefs are desperate to move out if Jake Long is gone, I think we could probably fleece them for a lot less than it would normally take.

Oakland is the key in this scenario. If they were to take Dorsey over McFadden then all this is moot. I think Al Davis is crazy though, and is enamored with speed and thus will pass on the better prospect for the one that puts more butts in seats and runs faster.

Re: Might Chris Long fall to Saints

This guy usually does good mock drafts from what I've read.
This is horrible.
Chris Johnson in the first?
Brian Brohm to the Jaguars?
Fred Davis to the Titans at 24?
Giants take Malcolm Kelly?

I thought a few of the others were in poor order, but these really stick out.

Saints get #5 overall (1st round)

KC gets #10 overall (1st round) and the Saints 2nd round pick in 2009

Value totals given up...

N.O. pick 10 (1300 pts) + 2009 2nd rnd pick (400 pts) = 1700 pts
K.C. pick 5 (1700 pts) = 1700 pts

or

Saints get #5 overall (1st round) and #101 overall (4th round)

KC gets #10 overall (1st round) and #40 overall (2nd round)

Value Totals given up..

N.O. pick 10 (1300 pts) + pick 40 (500 pts) = 1800 pts
K.C. pick 5 (1700 pts) + pick 101 (96 pts) = 1796 pts
