Saints to keep Deuce through Training Camp

The Saints and Deuce McAllister (knee surgeries) have worked out an agreement that will keep McAllister on the roster into training camp.
The sides previously pushed back the due date for McAllister's $1 million roster bonus, but it sounds like it's been deferred again. A spokesman said McAllister will be "a New Orleans Saint for sure this season." There's still a chance that Deuce could be cut in camp, but that seems unlikely now.

Yes!!! Woo hoo, this just made my day. I love Deuce, and I wish him a full recovery. He's such a classy guy and I'd love to see him return to his 2006 form. Remember what he did for this team against Philly in the playoffs?

This is great news. It was really smart of Deuce to restructure because even if he took a pay cut the Saints would still be paying him alot more than any other team would. The team is smart to bring him back and give him more time to prove that he still has something to offer. I think this could pay off for the Saints because Deuce is only 29 and might have a few more good years in him.

Sometimes I wonder just how good Deuce could've been had he stayed healthy. I remember when he was at Ole Miss he was once clocked at a 4.38 in the 40. That's blazing for any RB but for a guy that big to run a sub 4.4 is amazing. He was a flat out game breaker who could do it all. He could run over, around, or past a defender, he could catch, he could block, and he was a good return guy. He was on his way to being one of the best big backs of his era but he has lost his prime years to injuries. I just hope he get's his self in shape so he can make one last run for a ring.

If they want Mendenhall they will still draft him no matter what Deuce's status is. It would be foolish for the FO to alter their strategy based on the assumption that Deuce will be healthy the entire year. You know what happens when our FO makes an assumption, they make an ass out of season ticket holders and umption.

In the 1st round the Saints take -- Dr. James Andrews
James R. Andrews, M.D.
Doctor James R. Andrews, orthopaedic surgeon, is one of the founding members of the Alabama Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center (ASMOC) and the American Sports Medicine Institute (ASMI) in Birmingham, Alabama, located at St. Vincent’s Hospital. He serves as Chairman and Medical Director of ASMI. Doctor Andrews is also a founding partner and Medical Director of the Andrews Institute located in Gulf Breeze, Florida

Saints officials said "Doc as we like to call him knows our team better then anyone. After all he's put half of them back in one piece..."

Deuce is the Saints as far as I am concerned. However, don't get your hopes too high. Dude is coming off his second ACL injury, and had microfracture on the knee that was injured in 2005. Not looking all that good, but at least the Saints restructured his contract so that means there is some hope he can comeback.

With all of that in mind, I am going to make a prediction. I usually don't like making predictions but here it goes. The Saints will draft Rashad Mendenhall.

Re: Saints to keep Deuce through Training Camp

hey we kept ol whats his name at CB??? You know the other piece of toast in the toaster...Oh yeah, Fred Thomas, that right. He was around for another year and never got him on the field. So Duce should have no problems hanging out for two years.
Not to knock FT that way he did give us some good years. Age caught up with him.
