Saints to keep Deuce through Training Camp
The Saints and Deuce McAllister (knee surgeries) have worked out an agreement that will keep McAllister on the roster into training camp.
The sides previously pushed back the due date for McAllister's $1 million roster bonus, but it sounds like it's been deferred again. A spokesman said McAllister will be "a New Orleans Saint for sure this season." There's still a chance that Deuce could be cut in camp, but that seems unlikely now. Yes!!! Woo hoo, this just made my day. I love Deuce, and I wish him a full recovery. He's such a classy guy and I'd love to see him return to his 2006 form. Remember what he did for this team against Philly in the playoffs?

Re: Saints to keep Deuce through Training Camp
This is great news. It was really smart of Deuce to restructure because even if he took a pay cut the Saints would still be paying him alot more than any other team would. The team is smart to bring him back and give him more time to prove that he still has something to offer. I think this could pay off for the Saints because Deuce is only 29 and might have a few more good years in him.
Sometimes I wonder just how good Deuce could've been had he stayed healthy. I remember when he was at Ole Miss he was once clocked at a 4.38 in the 40. That's blazing for any RB but for a guy that big to run a sub 4.4 is amazing. He was a flat out game breaker who could do it all. He could run over, around, or past a defender, he could catch, he could block, and he was a good return guy. He was on his way to being one of the best big backs of his era but he has lost his prime years to injuries. I just hope he get's his self in shape so he can make one last run for a ring. |
