What needs should the Saints address in the NFL draft?
Hattiesburg American - www.hattiesburgamerican.com - Hattiesburg, Miss.
The Saints have not been good in the defensive backfield for ... well, for a long time. They could indeed use a playmaker at linebacker, but the most crying need right now is a cornerback who can actually cover a pro receiver. With the 10th pick, they may not get Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, the Tennessee State star who is supposedly the best DB in the draft. But they'll still have a shot at Mike Jenkins from South Florida or Leodis McKelvin from Troy, who are just as good. One of those three should be the Saints' first pick on Saturday. |

Re: What needs should the Saints address in the NFL dra
I don't agree with this. If opposing QB's didn't have 8-10 seconds in the pocket, I don't think anyone would be talking about our CB's (other than Jason David of course). We need a pass rush from our DT's. I think that is our most important need right now. I really like Cromartie & McKelvin, but honestly....we could have Deion Sanders & Darrell Green in their primes back there & it wouldn't do any good when an NFL QB has that much time. I mean....Joey Harrington picked us apart for Christ's sakes!!! Why? He had all day back there. I could of sworn I saw him stop & tie his shoe on one play & still complete the pass.

Yeah I think our biggest need is DT however to answer your question I would rather McKelvin I'm not crazy about Jenkins.
