Could You Remember A More Anticipated Saints Draft???

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Heading into this year's draft, how do you feel about the teams offseason moves, the coaches, the rumors of trades and players wanting to come to New Orleans...? Are these signs of a turnaround for the team?...

Reminds me alot of the 2006 draft. Same solid free agent acquisitions & the same buzz about the right player(s) in the draft.

Re: Could You Remember A More Anticipated Saints Draft?

I love the aggressiveness for two reasons. One, we arent in denial about our weaknesses in years past and two, i love hearing about us on ESPN more often. I think that Vilma and Morgan are significant upgrades to the defense so long as both or at least one of them can stay healthy. They should be able to help us sure up the run defense. Signing Gay and Glenn certainly provide competition at camp and give us a very strong #2 if McKenzie can come back in form allowing us to continue to develop Young without throwing him to the Wolves and allowing Craft, Thomas, or David to play the nickel which is a much more natural position for them at these points in their careers. I think the most important signing is McCray. He gives us another pass rusher and allows us to move Grant inside on passing downs. I think a DT is still the missing piece of the defense which is why Im so strong about moving up to get Dorsey or Ellis.

The 2006 draft was, IMO, way more hyped than this one. With the possibility of getting Reggie Bush, people were wetting their pants on this board with excitement.

p.s. - Reggie Bush breakout year? Count on it.

I like the buzz that NO is bringing to the media...it means i get to see something goin on from ohio....as far as FA and offseason moves i am dissappointed...i think that all we managed to do was sign a bunch of backups aside from vilma and morgan....unfortunately randall gay will start the season and it will be jason david all over again....i love the rumors about trades....it keeps the draft interesting......i think that when we drafted reggie it was more anticipated but i think because of our position and the depth at all of our needs makes for a great draft this year

He's not finished retooling the defense. More LB's, DB's, DT's coming in next week. Sweet.

i just dont see it....i think after the draft the saints are going to be done dealing....they just wont have the firepower that they had before and during the draft....if we make a move for shockey or shepard it will be draft day saturday or sunday.....if we dont make a move for either of them we will take a need position at CB and DT...i think we secured up a linebacking core with the addition of vilma and morgan....everybody forgets how solid and consistant defensive captain scott fujita is
