this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I say no. Its a TE after all. I say keep your 2nd and pick best player available. Hopefully a CB or LB....

So, do you package the 2nd and 5th for Shockey?

Ellis is a good pick, but I'd rather have gotten the deal that Baltimore got with the Jacksonville trade. Jack gave up the house.

Yeah. The Ravens just racked up. Jack's 1st, two 3's, and a 4th. Nice move on their part, because now they won't have to pay as much to get Henne, Brohm, or Flacco. Jacksonville screwed themselves.

The Saints are not. We don't need 8000 picks like the Ravens, Falcons, and Chiefs. We got the guy that we needed. I am truly happy with the trade and the pick. SFIAH |

I say make the trade unless Dan Cooner is still on the board.

The farther we go down the draft, most teams will start picking for need. Just have to see whats left when we get to the 2nd round. You might see Saints package our 2nd and a pick for next year to move up to the top of the 2nd round to get that player (Outside LB or CB). The pick next year will probably need to be a 3rd though. You have think the Saints will do well next year, which means their picks will be in the second half of the draft board, hopefully the last pick of the round. The point being next years 4th round pick probably won't be enough to move up this year.
