I have hybrids high on my list. CB/FS, OLB/SS, DE/OLB, DT/DE. Slot Wr or TE

since we put so much into DT why not finish it with one more pick.
Ahtyba Rubin, IowaSt., 6027, 315, 5.17
here is the kid to back up HT.
or wait for some one like
Nick Hayden Wisconsin 6039, 291, 5.17

Or go for broke trade way up and give a pick next year or a player and go for
Xavier Adibi, Virginia Tech, 6018, 232, 4.69 (ILB/OLB/S)

who are ya'll looking at? Some nice slot WR and TEs are on the board

Re: Now what? Round 5

Will a solid FS prospect be available in the 4th? That Notre Dame player is still out there (but isn't he more of a SS?), and that kid from North Carolina is still available. I doubt either one will be available when we pick though.

I'd like to see a FS, a TE, PK, and O-line. But more important, really, is who's the best player out there. I don't mind trade up scenarios.

I'm thinking the best C or TE prospect available... maybe even a WR like Monk. It's going to be a long wait. I do like that Rubin kid... sounds like he can develop into a space eating run stuffer.

Re: Now what? Round 5

What about Geno Hayes?

Position:OLB Florida State: 6-1, 226 40 Time:4.68

BIOGRAPHY: Two-year starter awarded All-Conference honors last season after totaling 80/17.5/5. Also intercepted one pass and broke up three more. Sophomore-year totals included 59/12/3.

POSITIVES: Smallish, athletic linebacker who makes plays all over the field. Breaks down well, plays with great explosion, and flashes on the scene. Takes good angles to the action, covers a lot of area on the field, and displays speed in every direction. Gets depth on pass drops and shows skill in coverage. Possesses a great burst of closing speed and a hard-hitter who drives through tackles.

NEGATIVES: Does not consistently play within himself and pursues the action too aggressively. Undersized, gets caught up in blocks, and struggles getting through the trash.

ANALYSIS: Hayes is a solid athlete who's been productive at Florida State the past two years. He is best suited in a system that allows him to freely flow to the action and he offers a good amount of upside for the next level.

PROJECTION: Middle Fourth Round

Re: Now what? Round 5

At only 218 pounds, he will need to bulk up some to compete at the NFL level. Prefers to run around blockers rather than take them on. Struggles to shed. Too aggressive at times. He has had some issues being exposed on the pass game. Durability could be an issue. Has off-the-field & character concerns.

Poor-man's Lawrence Timmons or Ernie Sims ?

Missed a few games with a knee injury in '06
Tased, arrested and later charged with assault on an officer, resisting arrest without violence and disorderly conduct following a bar fight in 2007
Was one of the Florida St. players involved in the academic cheating scandal

Theres the problem

Re: Now what? Round 5

Agreed. He'll fall, I bet, but after hearing that, I won't touch him.

How about this oversized guard? I keep looking over the centers but nothing jumps out at me.

Brandon Keith Northern Iowa 6-5.5, 343 40 Time:5.29

BIOGRAPHY: Junior-college transfer awarded All-Conference honors last season. Began his college career at Oklahoma.

POSITIVES: Strong, explosive offensive tackle in college who projects to guard. Fires off the snap, strong at the point, and gets movement from run-blocks, driving defenders off the line. Keeps his feet moving throughout the action, displays the ability to slide laterally, and plays with good pad level. Jolts defenders with good hand-punch or completely engulfs them at the point of attack. Stays with the action and rarely gives up an inch.

NEGATIVES: Does not consistently play with a sense of urgency and slow recognizing the action. Stiff, lacks top blocking balance, and overextends into opponents.

ANALYSIS: Keith is a well-traveled prospect who finally got his feet underneath him last season. Improved with more playing time and shows terrific upside potential for the next level. Possesses the size and athleticism to surprise a lot of people.

PROJECTION: Late Fourth Round

Re: Now what? Round 5

What about if we pick up Craig Steltz in the 5th. I think he will be there.

Re: Now what? Round 5

I wouldn't mind picking up Steltz. But if we go after a safety, I think I'd prefer someone with better coverage skills. Still, I could live with that pick.
