How about a pair of Deuces?
Deuce Staley is on the trading block. He is on the last year of a contract and wants it renegotiated. With the proper, restructuring maybe the Saints and Deuce can come to cap terms. Staley is holding out and Philadelphia is not resigning him, they are looking to get something out of him before they lose him at the end of the season. Maybe he can be gotten cheap. Staley would be a nice compliment to our Deuce. A pair of Deuces in the backfield might be a winning hand.

Staley will not be cheap......More than likely he will remain an eagle.

I have to agree that it is doubtful that we would be able to acquire Deuce Staley. He is looking for big bucks and a starting role on his current team. He most likely will come to terms before the season begins so as not to miss any game checks, whatever that amount is. Injuries are a part of the game of football and should a team with RB depth suffer injury to a starting member of their team where we have depth, a trade would be more likely to happen with a quality back. Strange things happen in preseason and this possibility exists, though less likely, over a month into the regular season before the trading deadline comes. Time will tell us all.

How about a pair of Deuces?
How about :
Washington Post report on Saint/Redskins negotiations The Redskins were poised to obtain Lional Dalton in a trade with the Denver Broncos in the coming days for a conditional draft choice, sources said. They apparently would like to get a front-line tackle from among Grady Jackson of New Orleans and the Chicago Bears\' Keith Traylor and Ted Washington -- the sort of trade that could cost them one of their tailbacks, Ladell Betts or Kenny Watson, as well as a draft pick. But the Saints told the Redskins that they would rather trade them one of Jackson\'s backups, Kenny Smith, for a draft selection. Dan Wilkinson was removed from the list of possibilities when he agreed to sign with the Detroit Lions. Knowing that they almost certainly had lost Noble for the season, team officials resolved late Saturday night to obtain two defensive tackles. The Redskins already were in pursuit of Dalton, who started 13 games for Denver last season but was told by the Broncos on Thursday he would be traded. The Jacksonville Jaguars apparently remained in the chase yesterday but, barring any last-minute snags, the Redskins seemed likely to add Dalton within a few days. They would surrender a draft pick that would be conditional upon Dalton\'s playing time. The Broncos reportedly have been seeking a fifth-round choice. The Redskins apparently tried to pry Jackson from the Saints. Such a move perhaps could cost them Betts, a second-round draft selection a year ago who is expendable because the Redskins have Watson to go with Trung Canidate and Chad Morton at tailback. But, according to sources, the Saints indicated they instead would trade Kenny Smith to the Redskins. Smith, 25, is a former third-round draft pick who has made only one start in two NFL seasons but had 31/2 sacks last season. The Saints also might be willing to deal another reserve tackle, Martin Chase. |
