Lamont Jordan
With the release of Dominic Rhodes, there has been some discussion about picking him up and letting him compete in training camp. With the slew of backs in Oakland (Fargas, Bush, McFadden, and Jordan), I would imagine one of them to be released soon. Being that Jordan has the highest salary, I would imagine him to be cut. Do you think he could be (for the right price) worth bringing into camp? I loved the guy when he was spelling Curtis Martin in New York. I thought he was the most effective there.
He is a big, in between the tackle runner capable of pounding out yards (5-10 230lbs). His is a career 4.1 yd/carry runner. He has a touch to fumble ratio of 950:8 (.84%). He can catch the ball out of the backfield (70 catches in 14 games in 2005). I think he could be a great fit and at the least worth bringing in to camp to see if a fresh start could bring back the fire in him. He does have some injury concerns the past two seasons, but may not have to take as many hits in our offense. |

Re: Lamont Jordan
eh...no thanks. i was reading on PFT (sorry don't have a link it was a couple of days ago i think) about how now that Sapp is gone he was talking some good, some bad about Oakland. He was saying how Jordan was the most out of shape RB he's ever seen coming into a camp. That's bad when someone like Sapp is talking about another being out of shape...

Re: Lamont Jordan
I heard about a week ago that he might be released on NFL Network. Although that is them speculating and Rhodes has since been let go. I personally would like to bring him in and let him compete for a roster spot.

Rhodes cut by Oakland 4-28-08. Listed under transactions.
Oakland Raiders - Transactions I'm not too impressed with Rhodes. I'de like to see Alley Broussard get a shot myself. I know it was rumord he signed with the Saints, but I've yet to hear any legit media reports. |

Re: Lamont Jordan
I was not aware of the comments from Sapp. I just recall Jordan when he played in New York and how great of a compliment he was to Curtis Martin. I say bring him into camp. If he is out of shape, he will get cut. If someone lights a fire under him and he wants to have a comeback year and get his career on track, he could certainly help us out.

Sure why not. He survived oakland.
Leave no stone unturned at this time off the year. talk till you are blue in the face. get a few in pads and see what you got. thats what preseason is all about. window shopping for talent. if the saints sign him so be it. Good luck to the player cut to make room for him. I am already looking forward to next years additions. |
