The Saints had to "settle" for Southern California DT Sedrick Ellis after failing in a bid to draft LSU's Glenn Dorsey, but they weren't exactly disappointed Saturday.

Saints defensive coordinator Gary Gibbs said Ellis, who had a solid week of practice at the Senior Bowl, had to be held out of some spring drills in the past at USC because he was so disruptive to the offense.

Saints defensive line coach Ed Orgeron, who recruited Ellis and coached him for two years before becoming the head coach at Ole Miss, still has close ties with the Trojans' staff.
