Balldinger on WWL
Asked which teams he thought did best in he draft. Picked Saints, Panthers (albeit mortgaging a big of their future) and Steelers. Liked the Ellis pick, caught the Bengals napping, who thought Ellis would drop in their lap. Saints did homework to move up and get him. If Glen Dorsey was best player in draft, Ellis wasn't far behind. Likes Porter, a CB who excels in man to man coverage. Felt they helped their defense a lot.
Asked about Vilma. Baldy stated Vilma ended last season with a mysterious knee injury. Doesn't know if truth ever came out as to what hampered him. Didn't want to go on injured reserve but once he did had surgery. When healhy, a tackling machine. A change of scenery good for him. New Orleans is a good group, good team atmosphere without a lot of bad guys. He should fit in well. Asked if he felt Saints could go into season counting on Pierre Thomas and if running back should have been addressed in draft. Bobby stated could have gotten Matt Forte in 2nd, or maybe bring in a Dominic Rhodes, or maybe Lamont Jordan if he is let go. Baldy states just happend to have recently watched Saints Bears game from last year. Was scratching his head as to why he on field sooner. Ran through tackles of Urlacher and Briggs. Great kid, smart, runs with power. Does everything Deuce could do, but doesn't have the top end breakaway speed Deuce once had. Didn't really feel Saints needed to address it in the draft. Believes wholeheartedly Thomas will be starting running back. This will allow them to keep Reggie Bush in playmaker role which he excels in. |

I love the fact that Reggie can now be used like he was in 2006 with a healthy backfield.

Re: Balldinger on WWL
I'm going to point this out (and yes I drank some haterade), but Brian Baldinger sucks. I currently reside in North Carolina and this ******** does all of the Panthers games, and he's such a homer. I came down to New Orleans for the Panthers came last season and he was on my flight back; I had to use every ounce of energy in my body not to tell him he sucks and I can't stand listening to him call games. All he does is hate on the Saints. I'm glad to see that he liked our draft though
