So ... who going to mini-camp?

For those of us out-of-towners, it would be great to get a report to see if any of these new players pass the eyeball test, the football-ability test, and the heart-to-play-football test. On paper, things look promising. We yet may have uncovered little gems late in the draft and udfa's! At least there are no Walter's from last year's circus!

Joining the Saints are wide receivers Todd Blythe and Evan Moore, offensive linemen Jason Boone, Nate McManus, Akim Millington and Kevin Tuminello, linebackers JoLonn Dunbar and Luke Sanders, defensive end Jeremy Geathers, running back Lynell Hamilton, quarterback T.C. Ostrander, punter Waylon Prather, safeties David Roach and Rocky Schwartz, long snapper Ryan Senser and fullback Olaniyi Sobomehin.

Todd Blythe – Wide Receiver, Iowa State (6-5, 214)

Jason Boone – Tackle, Utah (6-4, 300)

JoLonn Dunbar – Linebacker, Boston College (6-0, 226) I think that we'll hear this guy's name a lot on special teams.

Jeremy Geathers – Defensive End, UNLV (6-2, 245)I hope that this guy bulks up and gets into the DL rotation some day.

Lynell Hamilton – Running Back, San Diego State (6-0, 235) The team is interested enough in him to drop Branch. (See below).

Nate McManus – Guard, Georgia Tech (6-3, 300)

Akim Millington – Tackle, Illinois (6-6, 313)

Evan Moore – Wide Receiver, Stanford (6-7, 236)Remember all the talk of Colston moving to TE after he was drafted? I think that this guy may be in this years TE discussions.

T.C. Ostrander – Quarterback, Stanford (6-3, 215)
No chance.

Waylon Prather – Punter, San Jose State (6-3, 225)
The team will keep tabs on this fella if something should happen to Weatherford.

David Roach – Safety, Texas Christian (6-2, 215)
Big Safety. I'm hoping that he and Schwartz make a push to replace some of the Safeties from last year.

Luke Sanders – Linebacker, Louisiana State (6-5, 242)
Big hometown guy. Can't help but pull for him.

Rocky Schwartz – Safety, Houston (5-10, 200)

Ryan Senser – Long Snapper, Ohio (6-3, 227)

Olaniyi Sobomehin – Fullback, Portland State (6-1, 230)

Kevin Tuminello – Center, Georgia Tech (6-4, 285)

Loomis also announced that the team has waived defensive tackle McKinley Boykin, running back Jamaal Branch, wide receiver Carlton Brewster and defensive end Josh Cooper. Boykin, Branch and Cooper each first joined the Saints in 2006, while Brewster was signed as a free agent earlier this offseason.

Re: So ... who going to mini-camp?

holy crap....wide reciever at 6'7.....i hope roach picks it up...he would be a nice replacement for bullocks....im still hoping for the return of mitch berger in the punter spot....for awhile i joked about our punter being the best player on our team...for awhile....it was true lol....ostrander is a good pickup but i agree...he wont make the team....the only thing im disappointed about was getting rid of jamaal branch....i was kinda pullin for him to get some playing time this year...oh well...he was 5th best on the team at best
