Payton will put a bet on a long shot
SunHerald.com : Payton will put a bet on a long shot
Results from rookie minicamp can certainly vary. The success stories of Thomas, Weatherford and Palko are fairly evident. Then there are the reaches like highly touted defensive tackle Walter Thomas, who only lasted about 15 minutes through the first practice last year. Other Saints who made an NFL roster via the undrafted free agent route include defensive tackle Hollis Thomas, running back Aaron Stecker, cornerback Randall Gay, wide receiver David Patten, left guard Jamar Nesbit, defensive tackle Antwan Lake, safety Kevin Kaesviharn, linebacker Troy Evans, wide receiver Terrance Copper, tight end Ronnie Ghent, safety Chris Reis, wide receiver Lance Moore and tight end Mark Campbell. |

Re: Payton will put a bet on a long shot
Does anybody know what ever happened to Big Walter after his 15 minutes of infamy? The Walter Thomas saga has to be one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Nobody knew a thing about the guy until we picked him up and those infamous pictures started making the rounds around the internet. All of the sudden everybody is talking about how this beast who could lift a house, run a 4.7, and leap buildings in a single bound. Then the fact that he could do cartwheels came out and that sealed the deal, he was a projected starter. After all that hype camp begins and 15 minutes later the Walter Thomas era was over. I bet alot of people felt really foolish about hyping the guy up so much even though they knew nothing about him.
The Big Walt saga should teach us all a lesson about why most unknown players are unknown. |

I am a really big fan of Lance Moore. I want him to make the team and contribute.

Yeah, Walter was circus for sure...remember the vid of him doing a standing backflip (at over 320lbs)? WOW!
I think that Payton adds a certain element of heart and determination when he brings those kinds of players into camp. Reminds me of Rudy. |
