this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; What's the word on this guy. He's sitting on our waiver wire and I'm wondering what his prospects are for this year and beyond. Will he start? Is he an every down DB? Thx, Big Lou http://home.comcast.net/~indycrushers/...

Fantasy Help: Dale Carter
Baring injury or suspension(always an issue with Carter) he will be our #1 corner. He was having a very good camp untill he was injured , he returned to full pratice this week and should be a solid contributer this season. Since you ask about beyond I assume you are in a keeper league. Carter is a 33 year old 11 year veteran so he is no spring chicken, but there is no reason to believe he can\'nt be productive for several more years. He is a solid cover corner, who is considered adequate but not great in run support., His biggest concern will always be suspension one more league violation and he is gone for good.
Here is his scouting report from the Sporting News Height: 6-1 Weight: 188 DOB: 11/28/69 Position: CB TWR grade: 7.4 DALE CARTER Strengths: Is still a very solid man-to-man cover corner. Has fluid hips and good quickness. Can break down well in space. Can recover quickly if beaten. Has excellent hands. Plays with great confidence. Has improved his recognition skills. Weaknesses: Character has always been an issue with Carter, who played with different teams the past three seasons. Is not a huge asset in run support. Has lost a step and no longer can get away with taking as many chances. Does not play physical. Bottom line: Carter still is a solid starter, but he can no longer take the opponent’s No. 1 receiver out of the game. -- The War Room |
