Will shockey be a saint?

alright well im about done talking about the ups and downs....pros and cons...likes and dislikes...of jeremy shockey...i did a poll earlier about whether shockey would be an upgrade or not....overwhelmingly it was yes....he would be...now its time to end it....if shockey lands on the saints we will be better....but will he be a saint? putting everything personal aside...will he be on our team

Re: Will shockey be a saint?

Would the saints be better? Yes
Can he stay on the field for 16 games? No
Next poll is what is he worth?

if that would be a poll i would have put that before this one....im just tired of shockey being hyped so much on these forums and the chances of us actually getting him are not likely ne more...if we land him....talk on fan boys but i dont see it goin down like that...i want the talks to end

Re: Will shockey be a saint?

I believe he will be at some point....just not sure when.More than likely he will go to Giants camp and he will cause such a problem on a regular basis that the Giants will just about be ready to give him away, and of course this is Shock's whole plan.

Nothing wrong with find out if he is someone you want then deciding what he worth to you. If the yes votes have then lets see. Democracy gotta love it. :p kinda like buying a care. select the model then haggle the price.

I just don't see shockey getting released.

alright....thats fine....we'll see what i can come up with if the yes votes take this one....i gotta figure out what ppl are saying we would trade...then i'll post it...but only if the Yes wins...otherwise i think this ends the shockey trade discussions for good...at least on these forums

lol....i think it will....if its become apparent that we dont think we will get him then there is no point in talking about it....i too was caught up in the hype pre-draft....but afterwards i realized it was unlikely....if the vote is "no" then y would we still talk about it....then it would just go to the off topic forum or all access forum

He plays very hard, and is a great TE. Question ( IF he does ever become a NEW ORLEAN SAINT ) will he train with the TEAM or will he at the U.

That one thing I don't like about him.

I am tired of looking at this topic, but I have a gut feeling and think we will make a trade for him or Lito.

I am optimistic

The way to end a discussion you don't like is to start a newer more interesting one, not start a new one about how you wish the old one would just end.

There is a lot of really interesting stuff buried in that 14 page beast on Shockey. Some of it is pretty dull, I'm going to agree, but for the most part there is interesting football discussion. Isn't that the point of a NO football website?

Euphoria 05-13-2008 11:36 AM

Re: Will shockey be a saint?

What I find very interesting is that it only takes a few with an agenda to keep a post going. 19-9 Thus far, thats pretty much a beating.

JKool 05-13-2008 11:55 AM

Re: Will shockey be a saint?

I hope I didn't imply that I don't find it interesting, because I do (well, some of it anyway). I was just offering a positive suggestion for those who don't - rather than try and kill it, try and redirect it.

I don't think it will die, exactly because (some of) it is interesting.

JKool 05-13-2008 11:57 AM

Re: Will shockey be a saint?

Also, I'm not clear on how a vote changes the discussion regarding Shockey at all. Even if the probability that he'll be a Saint (and not merely people's opinion regarding the probability he'll be a Saint) drops to near zero, the discussion regarding his "value" to the team could still be very interesting.

the value of him isnt in question....i read several posts under the shockey thread and it was mostly very interesting...but much of the interesting posts had little to do with shockey...the argument about him went back and forth..he's worth too much...hes a cancer....hes a great target....hes a better blocker.....he makes YAC...all of these arguments were tossed around with different wording...i liked the post but after all of that...i think its time that we think about something else...after all..if most of the ppl truely think that shockey will be a saint then the discussion will go on....im merely trying to help ppl move on and not get dissappointed if the deal doesnt go down...believe u me....i want him....but i dont think its gonna happen

Re: Will shockey be a saint?

Giants didn't need him to win the SB... so we don't need his crap to win it either. We need D in order to do anything worth a damn. Sending any more picks other than a 4th round is shooting ourselves in the foot for the future. We'll need picks next year to fix what we find a problem this offseason.

JKool 05-13-2008 07:20 PM

Re: Will shockey be a saint?

The Giants didn't need any of our players to win the SB... I'm sure it doesn't follow from that that we don't need them to win a SB.

I'm inclined to agree that a second day draft pick is about all I'd be willing to part with.

I also agree that our D needed the most improvement. By all accounts, the D has been addressed. I'd still like to see a Safety, how about you?

I know no one is opposed to adding good players. You put the puzzle together as you can, even if (and no matter how much) you'd prefer to place certain pieces first.

I am not opposed to adding good players either but the point can be made that Shockey isn't a good player because of his 'locker room' antics (and lack off for no shows in camp and practice). That isn't being a team player and helping win a SB. Yeah yeah sure he can change.

Of course the guy wants out of town and more money. He gave his team crap and his coaches crap for years and he gets hurt and the team goes on to win a SB without one of there supposedly stars. If he ment that much to the team they would have collapsed. Yeah he won't feel good about going get his ring that he didn't earn or help his team win it from the coach he bad mouth.

Oh what fun that will be to get up and get handed a ring from a coach you bad mouthed and you didn't even put on the uniform and help your team win. NICE.

Re: Will shockey be a saint?

Canton: The other thread had almost died. But you came back stirring the pot. Shockey's not here. There's no point in speculating on the guy. All that can be said has been said on the subject. I think folks are just tired.

JKool on the safety: I think KK is the guy. Let's not forget he had 6 picks for Cincy in 2006 leading all safeties in the league. Guy has a nose for the ball. Let Bullocks sit and all will be well.

the giants also didnt need Tiki Barber to win the SB either.. but their running game went to crap without him... just b/c they won a superbowl without certian players doesnt mean they were a better team..

its dumb to say that certain players make or break a team...but its also obvious that good players make teams better....i hate that ppl think the giants were better without him.....the giants were not better without him...the won the super bowl because of their defense....not because of their backup tight end....i hate to say it but that argument is bs....that aside...this is not another shockey thread and i didnt stir ne thing...except with this post...other ppl bring up stuff that is irrelevant in this thread....is he going to be a saint or not...if u wanna talk about his value/talent/criticism use the jeremy shockey thread

Qbrees,

Not only is it not ending, the rumor mill keeps turning like Proud Mary:

New York Giants Report | NFL Football at CBSSports.com

Now the price is a 1st and a 4th that could conditionally move up to a 2nd in 2009. For a "super season" with 70 catches, 800 yards, and 6 TDs.

Our guys last year had 74 catches, 709 yards, and 4 TDs. So while it isn't "Super season" numbers, it ain't chopped liver either.

And we don't have to pay a first and a second for that type of production either.

And I thought gas prices were high!

Did you ever have a cough that just wouldn't go away? An allergy that produced sneezing and watery eyes for what seemed like six months? A tune that skips merrily through your head and will not leave?

Speaking of endless ordeals, there is still talk of the Giants trading tight end Jeremy Shockey to the New Orleans Saints
.

even they think its ridiculous

Shockey trade: just couldn't come to conclusion on Shockey deal; For the most part that's dead, I don't see that being rekindled;

The GIANTS originally wanted a draft pick plus Roman Harper. As far as i have seen on the ESPN and SI web sites all talks are done. Payton has moved on. If Shockey becomes an issue with the GIANTS later on we will probably get him by the 3rd game of regular season. If that happens Shockey will be a great fit on Paytons offense, afterall Payton was there on his draft day and they each have a huge ammount of respect for each other. !!!!!!!FAITH!!!!!!!! Our dynasty is close i can feel it. The days of being called losers will end soon.

I hope five (5) years from now the Shockey Thread is still going, really I do...

I don't know why, I just think it would make the Saints Black and Gold Blog the best in the NFL if we're still talking 'bout Shockey...

My friend in Boston keeps our other Yankee friends of ours abreast of the thread and they think we (the Black and Gold Clan) are the balls over it; this coming from fans who have multiple 24 hour Sports Talk Radio Stations!
