Saints SS Roman Harper

Coming off a torn ACL, Harper was exposed at times in coverage in '07. But he showed a knack for the big play and held off Kevin Kaesviharn for playing time. Giants GM Jerry Reese, who's quickly established himself as an elite judge of talent, wanted Harper in a Jeremy Shockey trade this offseason. The Saints said no.

Harper returns a full year removed from surgery and should regain some range. The Saints like to send him on blitzes, which increases Harper's fantasy upside, and he could see more tackle opportunities behind a linebacker unit that may have two starters returning from serious injury (MLB Jonathan Vilma and WLB Dan Morgan). Harper projects as a consistent and top-shelf DB1.

2007 Line: 90 (75 solo) – 4 SCK – 3 INT – 0 FR – 2 FF – 8 PASS DEF
Projection: 100 (84 solo) – 3 SCK – 2 INT – FR – 3 FF – 7 PASS DEF
2008 Rotoworld Rank: DB1

Re: Saints SS Roman Harper

This is Harper's third year, albeit not in playing time, so we should see what he's about this year...

I see Safety already becoming a priorty in next years free agency and draft...

Re: Saints SS Roman Harper

with all the hype about us drafting a S in next years draft i think he knows he has to step it up...but moreso i think josh bullocks job is in jeopardy...i think harper is a good S and struggled mainly because he was injured his rookie season...and had no help at CB last year...with an upgraded secondary and a possible full year to play this year....he will hopefully showcase his skills and fulfill some of his potential that we knew he had coming out of college

Re: Saints SS Roman Harper

no we have a YOUNG secondary (outside of KK and MM) that, if they stay intact, could develop nicely into a top 10 unit.

Harper is a safe bet to improve. bullocks is the key at FS. I am praying he rebounds. If not FS and WLB are the best bets for round 1 next year.

The only problem I see with this is that Dan Morgan retired and now that side is left with Shanle ughhhh but Harper should have a good year though

I think Harper will have a good year, and Bullocks will probably stink again and be gone after 08!
