New Orleans Saints Wednesday injury report: Left tackle Jermon Bushrod not expecting to play
Michael DeMocker / The Times-PicayuneNew Orleans Saints left tackle Jermon Bushrod said he won't be able to play Sunday because of ankle and knee injuries.Left tackle Jermon Bushrod said he doesn't expect to play Sunday against the New York Jets after aggravating his right ankle at Buffalo. That means fourth-year pro Zach Strief will return to the starting lineup. Strief should be fine in the role. He has started one game at left tackle in each of the past three years and played much of the second half at left tackle against Buffalo last Sunday. Meanwhile, the Saints' original starter at left tackle, Jammal Brown, popped into the locker room Wednesday, one day after the team announced that he was placed on injured reserve, ending his season with a hip injury. Brown declined to comment about the decision, but he is clearly disappointed about the way things have turned out. "It's just a bad deal," he said. In other injury news Wednesday: - Receiver Lance Moore returned to practice on a limited basis with his lingering hamstring injury. It's possible he could make his return this week against the New York Jets. - Tailback Pierre Thomas also practiced on a limited basis. He said his knee sprain is close to 100 percent, but he's still feeling some after-effects from the flu bug that attacked him last week. - Cornerback Malcolm Jenkins missed practice with a left ankle injury he suffered at Buffalo. His status for Sunday's game is unclear. - Long snapper Jason Kyle did not practice because of right knee and right ankle injuries. Coach Sean Payton said linebacker Troy Evans and safety Chris Reis could both fill in on an emergency basis, but he is optimistic that Kyle will be able to play. - Defensive end Bobby McCray sat out Wednesday with a back injury, but he was able to play through the injury last week. - Tailback Mike Bell (knee), defensive tackle Kendrick Clancy (knee) and tight end Darnell Dinkins (foot) remained out with lingering injuries. Re: Wednesday Injury Report:
Looks like no Bell. I'm also concern MJ may not play. His ST play has lead to 14pts so far.

Re: Wednesday Injury Report:
So
Jammal Brown - out Jermon Bushrod - out Strief is our only LT, against arguably the best defense we'll face all season? Ouch. Can Brees throw out of a 1-step drop? |

Re: Wednesday Injury Report:
I have confidence in Strief, but if he goes down...

Re: Wednesday Injury Report:
Well, Nicks can play LT, and Nesbit has also played it, and I think Stinchcomb played it in College.
But the bottom line is we're down to our 3rd string LT going against an excellent pressure-defense. RUN-RUN-RUN |

Re: Wednesday Injury Report:
Yeah, I think Nicks would slide over if Strief happens to get banged up and Nesbit would be back at LG. Let's just hope we don't have to see that happen. Yes, it's going to be very important to get that running attack going early on. We don't need to see Brees getting knocked around all day.

Re: Wednesday Injury Report:
the Bills were tough game. the jets will be tough. and thank god for the bye week.
Strief will be fine. Evens to LT? sure. Carl Nicks is the one I would expect to slide to LT and Jamar Nesbit to move in at LG if Strief comes out. Hmm three guards on the field? power running game? open up wrs? |
