this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Why is Dome Patrol "retired"? Who "retired" it? The Bears bring back their "Monsters of the Midway" - cool nickname -when their defense is playing great....

The Dome Patrol was a nickname for the linebacking corps. Not the entire defense. So no I don't think Fujita, Vilma and Shanle fit in the shoes of Swilling, Mills, Johnson and Jackson just yet.
