Bush vs Peterson

Peterson just ran out of bounds. Also, had a fumble that was returned for a TD. Is it time for the Vikings to cut ties with this guy? :p

Re: Bush vs Peterson

really? the comparison is not even close

AP is the best running back in the league and you are comparing him to a 3rd string running back

you honestly think the circumstances are the same? come on man.....you are better than that

He's joking.

That said, it's over and done with. I hope Reggie took something from the game and shines on center stage versus the Giants.

LOL.. no problem Canton. Yeah, I'm usually as sarcastic as anyone. And it is hard to convey that on the great world wide web.... :p:p But seriously, this will most likely be a topic on the Vikings forums..

Everything is lightened except for the Bush bashing. LOL.. just playing off of that. But yeah! We are 4-0 and we can fumble and still win a game! All good!

yep, and same w/ reggie. he has it in him, i think, but i would like to see more from it.

it's definitely evident that SP is getting rather tired of his nonsense.

AP also has the most Fumbles of any RB lol.

How about a straight up swap ... we get AP, they get RB!

It's about time that some else notices how great Reggie is.

Couple of surprising stats for y'all:

1. Bush leads the team in yards from scrimmage.
2. Peterson has fumbled the ball 15 times (9 lost) in 2.25 years.

Not saying reggie is better than purple jesus, but just sayin'

Great nickname . You have to consider the 1,760 rushing yards Peterson had last year though. I left that out in my original post on purpose. :-D

If AP is purple jesus, what does that make their QB...wait...I forgot...I can't mention that guys name around here...:)

And Reggie is right behind him with the fumbles.

Again, I feel you. I just wanted to point out that AP does have one glaring weakness - those fumbles will kill any team and even if he had half that number, it would still be a concern - and Reggie's getting bashed for semi-good reason, but he's still producing at a high level.

Just a lot of hate these days for "the most productive player on our team." He's in year 4 of a 6 year deal, IIRC. We're not going to cut him, and I really question his trade value - we ain't getting our money back.

I realize he was the #2 overall pick and one of the greatest college RBs ever, I get that. But you have to let it go. He's not playing against the Pac 10 anymore.

haha. i thought of you guys when i saw the stat of peterson having the most fumbles since 07 on MNF!

bush: 25 td's, 16 fumbles
peterson: 28 td's, 15 fumbles

thats for anyone who's curious. of course, bush has an extra year.

Re: Bush vs Peterson

Bush needs to get back that swagger he had his first two years. If he isn't a "between-the-tackles" (though he showed that potential vs. Philly), hell, neither is Brian Westbrook or Felix Jones (at least that's what the so-called experts say). At least he should be a little more creative and decisive when running with the ball. I say that the Saints have a more deeper backfield since Mayes, Hilliard, Heyward and Jordan. Are they better than the aforementioned Saints legends? The jury is still out on them.

Still looks slower than his 2006 speed.

Although he does scoot out of bounds before contact just as fast.;)

foreverfan 10-09-2009 08:44 AM

Re: Bush vs Peterson

2006 saw a lot of -3 yard plays too. Reggie was expected to be the offense in 2006.
It's a different team in 2009.

YouTube - Jets @ Saints Week 4

watch that video at 1:14......thats a cut he would've regularly made before the injuries.....hes not the same reggie he was and even tho cutting back in the exact same play proves he is still fast, he just doesnt have the same stability in those legs to make the crazy cuts he used to

Nah, I think he was just indecisive on that play. Looks like he thought about cutting it inside but saw the green coming his way to late. He should have just taken it OB like he normally would. Which is fine.

a running back avoiding contact is like a fat kid going on a diet....its just not normal

Ok, I didn't want to do it. But thus I must. Especially at about 1:26. hehe

Not that Bush could ever do what Barry did.

YouTube - Barry Sander's Backward Runs

barry sanders ranks #3 on my list of best running backs of all time......even with all those backward runs he was on pace to break the record for most rushing yardage

i know you're saying that bush could never do what barry did, but you also offered that up as evidence that running away from contact is ok

whenever reggie leads the league in rushing then i will concede my argument but there are very few exceptions to the rules and reggie doesnt seem to be one of them

reggie is barry-esque but he is not barry sanders

avoiding contact isnt the best way to get yourself noticed unless you want to get ridiculed.....i would much rather have a running back battle for the extra yard than hop out of bounds

Reference Pierre Thomas and Mike Bell. They have no problem turning it upfield for that extra 2 or 3 yards.

IIRC, the 36 yard run by Pierre Thomas that went OB at the 1 was a thing of tackle-breakin beauty.

Reggie scoots OB before the 20 yard line.

Yeah but they are completely different RBs. In other words, we could start a thread about how Pierre has trouble reversing field.

You mean, East-West dancing?

I've seen PT reverse field before. He does it quite well. He also knows how to read blocks a lot better than Bush does. He also breaks tackles better, he receives well and his cut backs fantastic. Bell also has a sweet 1-cut and up move that Bush will probably never learn to do.

I'd love to see some video of PT struggling to reverse field.
