Payton Keeps Hartley and Carney
Garrett Hartley Profile - New Orleans Saints - ESPN
News: Both Hartley and John Carney will remain on the Saints' roster for the rest of the season according to coach Sean Payton, reports Saints' beat writer Jeff Duncan. Spin: This news comes as a bit of a surprise. Duncan believes Carney will serve as the Saints active kicker on game days for now. However, with both kickers being on roster, this does not seem like a vote of confidence for Carney. Hartley will be waiting for the opportunity if Carney struggles or the Saints feel the need for a stronger leg. We will continue to monitor this situation. |

Yeah, probably Harper. I completely understand why Payton is doing this, Hartley is a great young talent and the future, Carney is old but accurate. Still, I really do not see the Saints sticking to this very long. Eventually, the roster spot is going to be needed.

Re: Payton Keeps Hartley and Carney
I kind of thought last year we might have brought Anderson in to work with Mehleoff (spelling) since they were both left footed kickers and Anderson was wanting to be the oldest kicker but that never happened but I can see why we're holding on to both of them for the time being with other teams looking for kickers including the Giants.
